Wish it could be a whole 8-car train, but so cool! I'd wished they'd do wraps in historic colors for years!

Seeing the 21st century CTA 5000 series "L" cars wrapped in the 1950s livery used on the then-brand new 6000s is both novel and very nostalgic. In that paint/wrap livery, the 5000s kinda look like a modern-day reincarnation of the long-since retired 6000s-Lol! Seeing those colors remind me so much of the days when my grandfather and I would wait for the "L" in the late 1950s and early 1960s at the 63rd Street/Cottage Grove stop on the Jackson Park line (aka the Green Line).

My favorite are the CTA 6000 series. Especially when they used to run “North-South Route” Englewood/Jackson Park-Howard

As a Chicagoian I will always love the old school cars, my all time favorite is the 2400 series maintenance trains with the red and white stripes, which, fun fact: 2014 and 2015 we're the last years of service which were on the Purple, Red, Green, and sometimes Orange.

Yeah, I like the 2400s too, but I like the restored heritage train cars. During the 75th anniversary event last weekend I ended up riding on them and taking pictures and videos of them more than the 6000s (which I have never ridden on before until that day because I’m a Gen Z’er).

They look awesome! It’d be great to see the 4 wrapped cars next to the 4 actual 6000s the CTA has in it’s heritage fleet.

When I was living in Chicago, I remember that cream and green color train with the one headlight at the top on the front but I favored the "Green/White" colored trains more. That particular train was more a part of memory with those of us that are still around today. If I'm not mistaken, The G/W trains were still in service during the early 1980s but seems they've (CTA) totally omitted that piece from retrospect. Didn't even keep a "Duce" of that train (I believe they were called a 6000 series). The much older "Brown/Orange" train that makes the rounds on special occasions is so old til there's probably only a handful of people left in Chicago that even remembers it let alone ride on it. They should wrap the real retro green and white colors on the green line trains since that route is where they had the most usage and memory.

Not from Chicago, but the green/white trains remind me of old movies set in Chicago from that time period and that's why it's most nostalgic for me.

Born here & still live here at 58. Take train to Loop M-F. There were no color line names in 60's-80's I think but I love the changes. Be safe out there riders!!😉

Great footage! A few things: The 2400-series at the beginning of the video: not in the description or title but a VERY pleasant surprise! The 5000-series wrapped by MSI: very nice, although to display the CTA logo on the side, it probably would have been better to use the 2600-series. Towards the end: sooooo....no one's gonna say anything about the surfer on the back of that train???

It's a shame they didn't preserve an 8-car set of the 2200s, that would've been nice to see.

Seeing those colors and no blinker doors is a little getting used to, but I like the color scheme and older logo.

Would be interesting if the CTA kept a 4 car train set of all the old subway cars and brought them out on different lines for the anniversary events.

It should be a whole 8 car set. But its very cool

The traditional green color scheme is timeless .... needs to be returned. 2022 CTA = 75 years .... and the "L" = 125 years.

Why don't they wrap the whole fleet? Two-tone trains need to make a comeback.
