Another outstanding video! It makes a huge difference when you show the lines we need to apply to the shot. Great work!

This was actually one of the best CTE vids I've seen and I've watched almost all of them. The only thing I would add is that for someone who dont know what CTE is, manual sweep or automatic sweeps, etc...this may be difficult to understand. This is the perfect video for someone who already has a general idea how the system works.

Thank you. I also did a sweep video. I did my version to show how I sweep into the shot. Thank you for commenting.

It would be helpful if you had a camera to better explain the contact point using side spin.

Dude I really appreciate this. Your explanation is simple and easy to grasp. Thank you!! Do you sell the metal plate that you use to cover the object balls?
@playpool12fyao Жыл бұрын
Thank you and unfortunately I don’t have the metal plate for sale. I make them before I retired from the army. I was in army aviation and we had many materials to work with and the tools too. I would go to Home Depot or Lowes and just get a thin metal that you can cut with a dremel tool or shears. Just cut it 2 1/4 tall and cut the back at a 45 degree angle. Hope this helps, please subscribe if haven’t already and please share.

Wait a minute. Why do the center of CB should be aligned to the edge of the object ball in every object ball’s aim (A, B, or C)? Since CB and object ball dimension is the same, it will not be a parallel lines (aiming the edge of CB to A/C position while aiming center of CB to the edge of object ball in the same time). I mean: if the edge of CB aligned to 1/4 of object ball, surely the center of CB will hit 3/4 of object ball. Do I missed something in this whole CTE concept?
@bradmobley35105 жыл бұрын
When you get your parallel lines are you just aiming to hit the object ball in the center of those lines?
@playpool12fyao5 жыл бұрын
Brad Mobley I still use contact points when I aim at the OB. CTE helps me get body alignment to the shot and it helps me to memorize only 5 shots. I have noticed about 99% of shots on a pool table can be made with an edge to edge, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full ball cut. Hope this helps, thank you for commenting and please share.

So the contact point for a 30° cut would be aiming the cue tip at aiming spot "b" from the half tip offset and then pivoting back to center if you're doing the manual pivot? Thanks
@horsedaddy2305 жыл бұрын
Nice video. Another question. When your using left or right just so I'm understanding you correctly. When you shooting a shot to the right to say B and you want to put right English (inside). Are you pivoting just a little to the right ? So is the tip centered or slightly right ? When applying the English ?
@playpool12fyao5 жыл бұрын
Horsedaddy2 when applying inside English, the sweep will pass the center axis of the CB. If you notice, right cut with right spin, once you get your alignment and your feet is in place for the shot, your cue will till to the right if applying right spin. I “pivot” more to the right (sweep less for inside English) and my tip will land aiming to the right of the CB for right spin. The sweep will naturally get you to use back hand English. The biggest thing is to get your alignment first. Going to the down position with the sweep bring you to center CB. But when applying right or left spin, you cue will till nautically. That is why I naturally do back hand English for most of my shots. If I want to use parallel English, I force my bridge hand to land left or right of the CB. I use parallel English when I am close to the OB because I noticed by bridge elbow has to extend or shorten to land off center of the CB. That sometimes throws of my body alignment to the shot. Just remember aim the tip exactly where you want to hit the CB. The two lines will give you the alignment, plant your feet to the shot, the sweep will get you to center, now just go down a little short on the sweep for inside ( right cut, right to left sweep, right spin) English or over sweep for outside (right cut, right to left sweep, left spin) English. Hope this helps and thank you for commenting.

Is bustimante using cte or 90-90 and why does he line up on the left side each time?
@playpool12fyao2 жыл бұрын
That I do not know. Many say that is just the way he aims and some say it’s an old Filipino thing. Filipino old timers would place their cue tip at a different location so there opponents don’t know where they are doing to hit the cue ball. It’s a gambling thing and before they had the measles cue ball. Back then KZbin was not around and the only way to get better is to play and watch good player. The good player wanted to stay on top and keep all the knowledge to themselves. My uncle also does the same thing, he aims his tip at a different location and hit the cue ball somewhere else. Hope this helps, thank you for commenting, please subscribe if haven’t already and please share.

What happens when u have to compensate for deflection?!!!
@playpool12fyao4 жыл бұрын
Alberto Perez for deflection, I use back hand English (BHE) and I have been practicing with side spin with my shot and subconsciously I adjust my aim for deflection. With a LD shaft I don’t really have to aim any different for side spin. I line up my two lines like as I am making a shot with center CB. My BHE will apply the spin I need. I don’t have to line up any different. I am always line up if a center CB. With parallel English, I have to adjust my aim but I still line up my two lines to get my body alignment to my cut shot. I don’t really like parallel English because that is where I have to compensate for deflection. No matter what English I use BHE or parallel, I always get my two lines to line my up to my shot. I just aim a little bit thinner or thicker with parallel English and for BHE I just aim as if I am doing a center ball hit. Hope this helps and please share.

@@playpool12fyao thank you very much! I have been playing with BHE pretty much as long as i can remember and i have been trying to change due to the time it takes me to adjust, maybe CTE will help! Thanks again!!

Do you know the reasons for the sweeps? I've been trying to figure this out for over a year
@playpool12fyao5 жыл бұрын
Michael Manglona from the expert, the sweep/pivot aligns you to center CB. When lining up for the shot, without the pivot, your cue tip will favor the side you swept/pivoted from. Example, if you sweep/pivot from right to left, your cue will not be on to the shot line. If you do a manual pivot, only the back hand will move. That move will get you back to center CB and to the shot line. The thing that confuses me is when to use a right to left or left to right pivot. From the expert, they do not explain it very clearly. According to them, the same shot, 15 degree left cut can have a right or left pivot. They state, if it is a thick cut or thin cut, we have to make the correct choice, and that does not really make sense. The way I do it, what ever side I am going to cut the shot,15, 30, or 45 degrees, I will sweep on the same side I am going to cut the OB. If you look at my old videos, I will land my bridge hand down and only pivot my back hand for right or left spin. If I am not applying spin except for top or bottom, my bridge hand will land on center line of the cue ball. My sweep just aligns me better to the shot line. 15 degree equals to 3/4 ball cut, 30 degree cut equals to 1/2 ball cut, and 45 degree cut equals to 1/4 ball cut. Many will argue, CTE is pretty much fraction aiming. The Ghost Ball will help you see the fractions. The two lines just helps me align to the shot better. I think the visual sweep thing is to make us confused. I have Stan Shuffett “CTE Pro One” DVD and I am still confused about the visual sweep thing. The left and right sweep looks the same. Expects are sweeping from the same side and calling it a left or right “visual sweep.” Hope this helps. Thank you for commenting.

@@playpool12fyao that's what I thought. I've been shooting with cte for several years now but, like you, I have "revised" it to my understanding. I get that the left and right sweeps thicken or thin the shots. I understand that the manual pivots take you back to center of the cue ball but like you the DVDs and videos just confuse the heck out of me. I just thought I'd reach out and see if we're on the same page or if you could break it down better for me.
@playpool12fyao5 жыл бұрын
Michael Manglona unfortunately not. I might have to watch the DVD again to really understand the visual sweep. For now, I revised it also to work. I will have to get back with you to see if I have any thing different. Thank you for commenting.
