Big Sean brings energy & catchy hooks to the game, but Kendrick Lamar’s complex lyrics, Drake’s commercial success, and J. Cole’s storytelling set high bars in hip hop. Each artist excels in their own way, shaping the genre differently. #HipHop 💯✅🫡

He used to be bro this is when drake was number 1 and 2 and 3 was up for grabs they then put j Cole as 2 and 3 was up for grabs they was gonna put Sean there but they didn’t like his cadence enough but the industry loved his flow that they used it and he addressed it then dot came around and 2 and 3 would fluctuate between him and Cole changing because both them niggas wasn’t dropping music consistently like drake was so it was a toss us between them and then that’s where charla opinion comes in after they established the big 3 then comes the Sean Wale meek and so on basically everyone that Kendrick name dropped on control comes after that

Over the yrs Cole Kendrick and Drake rose to top tier While big Sean meek wale were on B tier for awhile til about 2016 and eventually dwindled off b tier for various reasons wiz went mainstream so he was very successful just not in the convo anymore big krit remained underground and was overlooked and underappreciated unfortunately and Rocky carved out his own lane and cult following that weren't concerned with him being in the race for top tier rapper anymore

the thing is, Big Sean is like Cole in the big 3. For instance, like Cole, even though he is more lyrical than Drake, the influence is just different. Cant hate on Drake for that even if he takes others stuff. We all know Kendrick is HIM. But like if Big Sean had that giant strong fanbase as Cole and with casuals, he would be probably be in the big 3 ahead of cole. Also if Big Sean had more bangers (he has really good bangers) but yeah lyrically he is superb. He just needed more strong to very quality albulms (dark Paradise is his peak so far but its not enough for that level of greatness - though still Drake and Cole arguably have the same level album as their best)
@josephivey8453

Nah Sean is right up there with Dot and Cole as lyrical ability, timeless material and sales. Seeing as how Drake plagiarized much of his material he’s permanently disqualified. Then as far as the lack of consistency goes, all of them take years in between to put out albums. so I don’t understand the inconsistent talk. Big krit rivals in there as well.

He’s def in the Big 3. Speaking on consistency. I believe he has more albums than Cole and Kendrick. If we’re speaking consistency. Drake is the only rapper who’s been consistent.

Big Sean’s discography can hang with any of his peers including Drake, Kendrick, and Cole. And he can rap on the same level as any of those 3.

Big Sean is definitely in that realm of creation. He has better punchlines than all 3. I personally would say he’s better than Cole. Not a bigger artist but big enough to be in the convo.

Big Sean is the Fabolous of his generation. His monotone delivery and lack of album quality has made his career go that way.

The most influential rapper outside of the American bubble of influence is Kendrick Lamar. People who listen to their own rap always vibe with Kendrick. For us it's Kendrick 50 Snoop Eminem 2Pac Eazy Ice and a few others I know I m missing but can't recall right now. Big Sean might be popular in America but not so much overseas. I don't even know who Future is. Must be for the kids.

What happened is Cole took Sean's place on that list when disappeared for a bit. He normally comes up as a former honorable mention but someone who has the talent just didn't crack that top 3 again after Cole's run

He used to be in the convo but GOOD music fumbled him. Cole, Kdot and Big Sean. That’s what it was supposed to be for people who genuinely love rap and hiphop.

Yall delusional in the comments, there was a moment when Sean was in the big 5. Drake, Cole, Dot, Sean and Wale. Those were the lyrical guys with the most promise. Wale character/personality was his downfall. Sean being inconsistent, chasing a commercial hit and being scared to battle was his downfall

For anybody that didn't believe or think that Big Sean wasn't in the big three combo at some point in life you are very very Out Of Tune. I remember it like it was yesterday. Just look up the song made with Drake and big sean. It was a time when people were saying that Drake was still in the man's flow. I always thought they sound different but this is a fact. In 2010 and 2011 it was like Drake Big Sean Wiz Khalifa , Kid Cudi ,Wale, ASAP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar and Cole was just getting a feet wet. Do you remember there was a time during born sinner when people thought cole was corny as hell and do you not remember the time when people thought Kendrick was weird as hell and ppl hated the alien voice? You fools don't understand that the hood rappers wasn't even on top at that point. Meek Mill was like the only one and he's was therr with WALE on mmg. Sean finally famous run had him top 3 - 5 easy and he was under Kanye , like are yall slow fr ? Y'all just didnt know who he was until he dropped commercial shit like A$$ and etc. Personally i say Drake is overly solidified in the sense of him being a singer also. I always looked at sean kendrick Cole and wale as the actual rappers. Drake is more like kid cudi. Its 2024 now all that happened from 09-2011 and kinda lasted till 2013 overall. Then rap Shifted all the way south wit migos, future, etc...
