I met him at a show years ago. Small venue, intimate setting, small audience. He was supposed to play a couple of tunes on his acoustic and answer a few questions, in and out type of radio obligation. Instead he asks if the full band can play and work some things out. Needless to say it was like sitting at the feet of greatness. It was a masterful performance. Then I had a beer with him after the show and he was a gentleman. Sincere, humble and asked me questions about my life etc. The man is a treasure and we are lucky to have him. He also rented an RV to tour in that he drove himself. He is just that guy. Amazing human being and a musical genius surrounding himself with musical geniuses.

Met him too in Northampton, Mass near The Ironhorse. In line for show and he came out of music store. I was only (well first) to recognize him, went up and started talking. We talked for 5 minutes before someone else came up, and then he took off. He asked if he could play a song for me, and dedicated Still Water. Also mentioned me during some improve/space guitar as I had mentioned enjoying those soundscapes. A highlight of my concert going life!

100%. Saw him 2 nights in a row in '03 for his SHINE tour. Ashville NC(Orange Peel) and Atlanta (Echo Lounge). He toured with Mother Superior(Henry Rollins Band) as his backup band. 100? people in Ashville. I sat front row- 10 feet away. He gave me the setlist and all 4 of them signed it. Most real and down to earth person I've ever met, and funny as hell... spoke again in ATL. SAME. 2 of the best nights of music and camaraderie I've ever experienced!

It’s funny to see any negative comments about this performance. It’s a pity that even sharing the finest of the art-form on KZbin will always to some degree just become a casting of pearls before swine. This music is of the highest... If you don’t get it, grab a fish sandwich on the way out and don’t bother coming back.

When you have been programmed by the machine there aren’t the neuro-pathways available to hear this for what it is.....then this threatens the listener enlisting a self preservation response of negative comment. Pray for the ones who take the time to leave a negative message that one day they be blessed with the opportunity to hear true love....
