Here's a pretty close paraphrase of a piece of an article I read about "Wrecking Ball": He leaves plenty of space for Harris' voice. This is good, because any musician, even one as talented as Daniel Lanois, who goes up against Emmylou Harris' voice is going to come away with a good pasting. Above and beyond everything about the song--which is of genius and God to be sure--is Willie's attention and dedication to making the song come out as heartfelt and genuine as possible.
