I stand corrected, it is Mssr Lanois, and it is his arrangement. It sounds so different on my phone than on a full-fledged stereo system. It doesn't need me to say so, but it is a fine work

Here's a pretty close paraphrase of a piece of an article I read about "Wrecking Ball": He leaves plenty of space for Harris' voice. This is good, because any musician, even one as talented as Daniel Lanois, who goes up against Emmylou Harris' voice is going to come away with a good pasting. LOL -- they both know how to "play nice with others" and the result is magic.

Above and beyond everything about the song--which is of genius and God to be sure--is Willie's attention and dedication to making the song come out as heartfelt and genuine as possible. He and Emmy seem both is awe and transfixed by Mr Lanois and rightfully so...my fav moment is at the very end when Willie looks up and has the "there but for the grace of God go I " look in his eyes--like hes truly thankful to be a part of that song while it was happening.

Soulful deep waters. Those that appreciate Lanois on guitar here might like Emmylou's live version w/ Buddy Miller's atmospheric guitar and Brady Blades driving on drums. The album is Spyboy, this the closing number. Worth a listen!

When I saw it was Emmylou and Wilie, I knew it would be good, but adding that guitar sound - Lord have mercy! I'd forgotten what Daniel Lanois looked like and didn't realize it was him 'til the comments. I didn't know he was such a guitar player - I only knew of him as a producer. Fabulous song.

I have this album by Daniel Lanois, both the cd and tape for the car. Love this album by Daniel Lanois. Jolie Louise, Sillium Hill, Under Stormy Skies, etc are on this tape. Great music, wore first one out, now have cd and tape.
