You may need to beef up Your mounting steel straps to support the body at 90 degrees. Flat stock steel is not supporting. Maybe use angle iron or add stock at90degrees to Your support pieces.

Good day CT. This is a great addition to your arsenal. Now you just need a bit of sheet metal fabrication equipment to help you make your own panels or parts of panels that need to be replaced. I am sure that in the long run it will be more cost effective and increase your knowledge. Why buy a whole replacement panel when only an inch or two needs to be replaced. Keep at it. You are doing a great job.

Congratulations on the new tool!! Something I never had when I was deeply into restorations! As commented above, you will probably want to add left-to-right bracing. The car should not want to move left to right when supported by the rotisserie. Depending on what you have handy, a X brace near where the supports enter the body would be ideal.

You're doing a really impressive job on that Ghia! I bought a coupe like yours in 1968, and it was great fun to drive --- until the arrival of our first child. We just couldn't get all the baby stuff inside, and we couldn't afford two cars, so..... but it was great while it lasted. While I was watching this latest video I made a few notes, and I hope it's OK to share them since I'm not yet a formal subscriber: 1. Lock the wheels on the rotisserie when you're revolving the car, otherwise the twisting motion can cause it to skew sideways into something (or someone); 2. When rotating the body, use a handle rod the same diameter as the one that came with the kit but maybe 18" - 24" longer. It will give you much greater leverage and put less strain on your back; 3. You might consider some temporary X-bracing across the door openings, to make sure that beautiful Ghia body doesn't warp on you when you have it on its side.

Might want to consider mounting the connecting tubing pieces with the bolts to the side that way if the vehicle ever hits the connecting tubing while rotating it will not hit the bolts but just the tubing and not dent the vehicle nearly as bad. You now have the opportunity to access all the rust repair and weld on the flat which most people are best at. Going great keep the good work up .

CT when drilling large holes try using a smaller drill first and then use the larger one this makes it much easier for you. Also the front support isn’t centered with the car body.

Hey CT, you make no secret of the fact that you are no professional at this sort of stuff but in my opinion you are doing great. You have come on in " leaps and bounds" from your earlier efforts and fair play to you, you are brave enough to show your progress "warts and all" as we say in Ireland. Have a peek at Mike Fn Garage who repaired one of these a few weeks ago, he's very good. I restored a Morris Traveller almost 30 years ago and rolled it over to weld with just the aid of an old bed mattress, a couple of straw bales and a cheap engine hoist. I still have the car too. Best regards from an old fart in Ireland.

Hey CT, the I think you need to crank the little handles a little further until the center of gravity of the car is ligned up with the round pivot point. Once you get the verticle banance right, the car should rotate with ease.

CT, You need to make the car central to the rotisserie so it will turn easier and level. You can twist the frame / bidy with having one end off centre as it changes the pivot point.
@TC-Henry

Exactly, getting the weight closer to the pivot point will make it much easier to rotate. So, with the Ghia in it's normal position, you need to raise it, probably another 6".

Hi CT, I think that shell is to flimsy to be on the rotisserie like that. I would mount it back on the floor pan to get it back to square. Then fit diagonal bracing across the door openings and across the car before proceeding further. Fit on the rotisserie with shorter square mounts that won't bend.

Also try flapper wheel discs for removing rust as they can be bought in different grits and are not as aggressive as grinding discs so will leave more metal . Maybe a supporting vee type piece of metal brace on each door from the 2 hinges to the latch to help stiffen the body and prevent torsion distorting metal and your new work. I will be waiting for your future work .

The secret to Rotisserie Ghia is cooking it over slow heat for long periods to tenderize, cook it too fast and too hot it will be chewy and tuff. I prefer sweet Smokey barbeque sauce to a hot one but... you need a soft brush that will coat & layer stiff brushes tend to scrape the caramelized sauce from below off and you don't get goo layering... Don't be overwhelmed, pick a small spot cut out the rust weld in a new piece perfect that small spot and find another nearby and work on it work your way around the car. Start small pound the metal to fit, work your way up to the larger contour parts. That way you will get a feel for shaping the patches before moving on to large compound curved patches.
