I thought that the language bug occurred because they forgot to set a default language if they didn't choose a language for some reason (and this reason turned out to be another error, which was forgetting to block the exit button in the language panel). Anyway, due to the lack of language, the game doesn't know what to do in relation to displaying specific texts and sound files, especially because the Japanese language needed to be done exclusively in its version (according to my PS1 crash modifications, the Japanese letters are different in amount and style of writing, such as katakana and hiragana, in addition to the extra signs of the language). Well that's what I think, I'm not 100% sure.

SGs on the track edges remind me of shiftboosting in F-Zero games. In short, if you leave the track for a minuscule amount of time(in certain sections of some maps you have to be frame-perfect), the game gives you speed boost. It is weird to me how Penta gets aku in this whereas in my copy, Penta gets uka. Why is that?

He was slightly bugged in the original NTSC-U (American) release, getting the Aku Aku powerup icon but using Uka Uka. He also had beginner stats and some placeholder dialogue. In all other regions, he uses Aku Aku and has the maximum possible stats, which is why he's used for time trial records and such. The remake makes him a speed character with a 50-50 chance of using either Aku Aku or Uka Uka.
