Thanks Travis. I've already cut most of them back but perhaps I can share things I've learned this as I show you the yard.

Love your videos. Last year I followed your suggestions for pruning my PeeGee hydrangeas that I had never pruned in 20 years. Whew it worked great. They were amazing. Thank you. I live in Va. (now zone 7) and it is not getting cold until December/January, can I prune now? It’s November and still getting warm days. High 70’s. Is it too early? Leaves are gone but pretty sure not dormant yet. Should I wait ? I would love your advice on timing

We are having a VERY warm fall up here too. I will prune my PG's whenever convenient and they won't regrow until spring. I don't see why it would be any different in Va but I would consult a local expert if you are undecided.

Hi there, nice tree. I usually would clean up the left over stubs to 1/4" above the buds for compartmentalization and to prevent the dieback spreading back down the tree.

Great video! You have an excellent KZbin channel. I hope you post a video of your PeeGee Hydrangea in 2024 after it flowers, so we can all see the results.

Love the video and I have so much to do. I planted about 50 on my driveway bank and they are in serious need of a good pruning. How fast will they grow back to leafing out stage? I have a wedding venue and these line my driveway. They have never been pruned like this and I want to get them to this point. I have wedding in May and am concerned that I will have bare tree stumps (lol) as the first thing they see. With this kind of pruning will they start at least leafing out by May? I'm in Va. zone 7. It is March now, what should I do with them now to help this year and I can go back and do the hard prune in the fall. But they need help.. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you

Is there a way to identify a Peegee Hydrangea? My son has one similar looking to yours, that the former owner planted. What else could it be? I thought spring would be a better time to prune or is the concern snow or ice load and breaking branches? He’s near Niagara Falls Ontario Canada 🇨🇦

They pretty much all look the same. Opposite buds on the stems, large panicles of flowers starting late summer and persisisting until frost. Fast growth rate. They can be pruned any time from late fall to early spring. I like to prune in late fall because the shrub looks dowtrodden by spring and the flowers make a mess of the landscape. Plus, it's warmer in fall and there's usually a lot going on in spring. Here is a link to more information on identifying PG Hydrangea: plantdatabase.uconn.edu/detail.php?pid=211

@@CTSCAPER Thank you so much. I’d prefer pruning now when we have more time, so that’s great to know. Thank you so much for your prompt informative reply.
