I never ever leave comments on anything but I felt as though it was needed for this video. For such an "easy" thing that can get messed up very quickly your video addressed every concern that one could have loading a grease gun. Your video was so candid, useful, and clear and concise. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

I’ve been struggling with this issue for the last 30 years. I don’t do it often so spooning it in was my lame desperate attempt. My dad passed at a young age and he was great at this stuff and I had used his shop. KZbin to the rescue…should have done this a decade ago! Great and thanks.

@markb89547 ай бұрын
If it’s a brand new gun it will take many pumps to prime the long flexible tube. If you have easy access, it helps to fill the cap with grease before screwing it all back together.

The first grease gun I loaded belonged to my grandfather. This was in the 1960's and if grease cartirages were available then, he didn't have any. He told me to plunge the barrel of the gun into his pail of grease as I drew back on the plunger so it would suck the grease into the barrel. I don't think I'll ever live long enough to develop the coordination to do that without getting grease everywhere. The cartridges are a vast improvement but I still manage to grease myself up pretty well. This video and some of the comments might help. Thanks!

I rebuilt my f250 10 years before youtube was launched. In the process I bought what appeared to be a good quality american made grease gun. It never worked and I got grease all over. But the parts were so nicely made, the hoarder in me wouldn't let me toss it. Recently I accidentally ordered a grease cartridge instead of a tube and I figured why not? As simple as your instructions are, I obviously managed to get it wrong without instructions in the dark ages. Many thanks, it's working great. I think I'll go lube something now.

Great video! I just bought my second tube recently thinking my first one was getting low which begs my question here... Is the only way to know you are low on grease is to occasionally squirt some out to see if any comes out? Not sure if it had anything to do with the little bleeder-screw up top, but, I didn't do anything different while loading and pulling the trigger, had to end up unscrewing it and wasted the whole tube, I was pretty pissed.......not sure what went wrong during the process.

Isn't the rod and plunger one solid unit? So by sliding it in straight away you waste a lot of grease. Once the cartridge is in and the pump is screwed on centralize the rod but don't push it in it will be sucked in as you use the grease
@osparker27 жыл бұрын
I ordered a new tractor. So I bought my first grease gun too. I have used them in the past. When I load it it seems the plunger is catching on the edge of the tube and not going into the grease like it is supposed to. I ended up using a stick and scooping it out. Tried two different tubs from same company
@CTSCAPER7 жыл бұрын
That's weird? Some grease guns are designed to suck grease up right from a bucket or drum so have a look at the directions and see if the piece of rubber that pushes the grease out should be reversed for tubes of grease. That's one thing I could think of. The only other thing I could think of is if you put the tube of grease in backwards with the metal ring hitting the plunger first. However, if you did that you'd have one heck of a fight just getting the metal part through the hole. I hope you get it figured out.
@26jagman10 жыл бұрын
Geeesh, i messed with this darn grease gun for over an hour yesterday, just knew that something had to be wrong. Well it seems on my greas gun, there's a rubber plunger that is used for bulk grease filling only and if you're going to be using it with the grease cartridges, it has to be removed. Well after fighting with the plunger still in we knew something wasn't right and after looking into it, we found that in small print, an 8 word sentence hidden in the directions 'if using cartridge, remove rubber plunger before inserting' ....lol felt like a dummie :) Well, we removed the rubber plunger, set it aside and tried purging the air from the system. Well it must still have air inside because i can't get more that a few drops to come out ! I just watched your video and we're gonna try it again with high hopes that it will work, thanks for the how to video......Will report back with my results, hope it works this time :)
