Business owners should take note and actually set up bike locks inside their facilities. This same thing has been going on for so long. What a joke.

This is how bike thieves operate. It's much easier to just brazenly act like you're doing nothing wrong, smile and wave, than it is to try to be sneaky. Most people wouldn't have the balls of this woman to walk up and film him, they just walk by and say "none of my business"

This happened to me on Dunsmir and Richards street. There were two of them that had a more efficient powerful power grinder and cut through my folding lock in seconds. When a shaw bike rental worker helped me stop them from taking my e-scootee one of the guys began punching me and the other was trying to cut me probably with the angle grinder, but I didn't notice or feel the pain since I had a lot of adrenaline running. Still have the scars though.

I once had to crack my own bike lock. Took about 30min because I was obviously very bad at it and used the cheapest side cutter imagineable. Several people asked me if that was my bike but I guess the utterly bad equipment and my honest eyes convinced them :-)

For some dumb reason it's against the law to bobby trap your own bike. Something about it potentially injuring an innocent bystander. The law makes it so easy to steal a bike and police will rarely do anything about it.
@Hungry_God

@@behram11 just run high voltàge wire inside the lock so when they cut it they get shocked. This isn't a booby trap as long as the high voltage wire is used for something, say an in built tazer 😊

Ask him to take off helmet & glasses for camera. If he's honestly cutting his own lock, he won't mind & he should have already told police what he's doing like I've always done before I cut a lock in public.

Take the scumbags grinder and say you are waiting for the cops to sort out ownership. If he bolts you get a free grinder.

Simple thing is to just walk up to them and say WTF do you think you are doing with my bike out loud and angrily. If it's not theirs. Most will take off. If they dont you simply call the police.

For forty years every bike I have ever owned has been stolen until I built a high fence. In my town, thieves drive around town to all the regular bike racks on a regular basis and break out their bolt cutters. They steal in broad daylight in crowded places..

pro tip: put your lock through the WHEEL to make it harder for the thief to cut through it, less room to manoeuvre

Doesn’t matter how you put it, angle grinder will get through all the locks out there within minutes (except for hillock D1000 maybe, it’s easier to cut the poles because the lock is hard to cut and sellable expensive)
@matthewcox1093
@matthewcox1093 2 жыл бұрын
@@franksun4017 It does matter and some locks take alot of time and planning to cut. Meaning they will most likely be cut overnight vs cut in broad daylight. As strong locks like chain lock or forget about it u lock need angle grinder to cut which will make noise. Also when you use 2 or more locks it lowers your risk of bike theft. Also overall it depends on how long you will be leaving your bike unattended and the lock you use. Thieves are looking for the easiest bike to steal and they want to do the job as fast as possible. This is why I use strong kryptonite chain lock and u lock combination. And never leave my bike that long. No more than 30 minutes usually. And that's my grocery shopping time I give myself for example. Of someone wants to steal my bike it's going to be a targeted attack I realized where they see my bike and track my steps and strike. It's all about timing. I guarantee if I left my bike outside apartment room overnight It will be stolen. Why ? Cause I left it overnight meaning the thief has more than enough time to use angle grinder. Also it's night so everyone is home sleeping. Nobody will hear them cutting it.
@franksun4017

@@matthewcox1093 People don’t care and certainly won’t go hot on a thief with a sparkling angle grinder in hands. On a lucky day, you might get some brave souls to initiate a conversation with the thief. Lots of videos on KZbin where thieves grind bikes in broad daylight. You can get any lock combo open with the combination of an angle grinder (D locks) and a hydraulic cutter (chain locks) under 10 minutes. Other stuff are just butter. And this is just the brute force type. You ever watched lock picking lawyer, you would know how easy it is to pick open these bike locks, people won’t even know that you are stealing.

stealing a bike with an industrial tool should be severely punished. The fact that he casually carelessly does this shows that there's no real considerate law for them to be afraid of, probably a small 80 Euro fine for $1,000 Bike....
