Hall and Oates' best years were with GE Smith... they might have been the greatest live performance band in the world during those years...GE Smith was incredible.

Saw H&O with GE on the Sunset Strip in LA. Wow! It was, “Dang, who’s the guy with the crew cut throwing his guitar around and just killing it?!”

Absolutely! Saw them only once on the Big Bam Boom tour. To this day, the very best concert I've ever seen.

GE what an awesome guy, and he’s a legend guitarist; he helped make the hits with Hall & Oates! I feel the back up guys don’t get enough credit, for their extraordinary contributions! What an awesomely nice guy! Much love to U💛🌟🎁GE, u helped make my youth awesome, with the amazing music that you made with Hall & Oates! Blessings and love, to U, always!💜

For sure, one of G E Smith's amazing achievements would be his work as musical director for the 30th anniversary concert for Bob Dylan.

Oh, Yes absolutely, GE was a sharp dresser and a trendsetter like Daryl, in addition to being one of the greatest guitarist of all time! You are a true legend GE; thank you for sharing your gift with the world! 💜🌟🎁

H&O brilliant having they guys in their band as part of the whole package. T-Bone, Charlie Dechant, Mickey Curry, and of Course GE where well known due to those video and certainly all had their own personality...especially GE. Dude was all smiles and just playing away. I remember wanting to be Eddie Van Halen, but after getting into Hall and Oates, I wanted to be GE... Cool dude, playing what the song needs.

such a solid, congenial narrative, no pretense, just real placing you there with H&O, the Sara Smiles to Big Bam Boom and especially the advent of MTV and the vids H&O put on; timing, you betcha, but it was the talent too, GE fit like a glove.

When MTV started they had a limited amount of videos so they created bunch of bizarro animated shorts and they would play a block of 15 to 30 minutes of this stuff sometimes with sound and sometimes without. I would love to see those again.

so crazy hearing his speaking voice…my memories of him are as SNL’s band leader - he was so fly. I had such a crush on him. edited - I just realize I have been following Joseph Arthur on IG for like 5 years and had no idea lol - his face looked so familair. SM is so strange.

I’ve watched a lot of these GE interviews he moved on because H&O took a break (Well deserved) And he got the Saturday Night Live Gig which for a guy like GE who is a sideman was the ultimate big time . He is awesome. He always said it was knowing people and luck.
