Key takeaways: 1)External gratification didn't affect him(seniors told job le phir gate kar) Advice:His brother told go for placements and take a bold decision,he took bold decision and started his gate prep(was rejected at placement interviews--admits this to be his taste of failure and was fearless giving exam) 2)Was devoted to study and did target oriented study per day(used to decide per week how many subs to study) roughly studied 10-12 hrs per day with dedication. --Worked like hell and concludes gate requires 8 month study to crack and get even air 1 3)Gave around 200 tests (ranking revolving 100)and took test series from 4 institutes(around 1.5 months just gave tests and started from dec) Blast from past: --Had interest in science and tech from childhood and also was a topper in 10th board and was selected for super 50 iit coaching but it relapsed a little later. 4)Till nov he did conceptual study(as if research oriented) --He didn't wanted a drop,job was also also a reason for opting for gate(also gave his 100% at the prep and even applied for jobs in coaching institutes,drop was not an option) 5)Rough schedule:aug/sept finish the subs then nov finish again(gets 2 revision done). 2 subs(theory/memory one and concept/numerical one) per week and do theory then practice. 6)Made pharre(micronotes) in dec after 3 revisions and only for difficult formulae or concepts in a4 sheet(1or2) and used to mug them in free time eg:standing in line in mess. 7)Studied from coaching&self handwritten notes,postal study course of 2 institutes,no particular book followed whatever he thought best he studied that particular topic from it and revision from same. -Used to visualize and practically understand certain things(water,sewage plant in iit) Memory based subs revision: After summer crash course he revised once till sept then revised 2nd time till november,he somehow did 4th revision in dec and then he stopped forgeting stuff and started the tests 8)Treated all subs equally and gave them same amount of time. Pro Tip: 6-7 days before if you get high rank in mocks then don't give it after that leave at high point for confidence boost Last 3-4 days before: 1)Was revising theory and brushing up his prep 2)Emulated his real test timings 15 days before(used to give full length tests in afternoon) --If demotivated he used to sleep and remember his purpose of starting. While starting prep he deleted almost all social media. Last message Atleast join 2 test series (last 2 month left) and assess it and keep healthy habits.
