I been doing research before getting my first riding mower. Both last and this year reviews were very helpful. Thank you for showing fellow full size guy that this mover won’t be a problem with my size. All previous reviews I seen were based on 5’8” 180 lb (or smaller) people saying they got plenty of room.

Just installed a spinner knob. Gotta say, it's a much easier turn now, especially in a yard that has lots of obstacles. Thanks for the pro tip. Glad to see the XT1 is holding up after years of use!

Nice video! Last year I bought the XT1 and mainly for snow removal. I have the 46" blade and it works nice. Like you we didn't have much snow this year but I did use it as a dozer blade clearing out brush in the woods where my compost pile is. I was surprised how well it worked as a dozer! Tire chains are a must when plowing snow. We are about two weeks away from mowing, I see only a few clumps of grass springing up as I type. BTW the broken wheel is called an "anti scalp wheel".

I just bought one (June 1) the XT1 and it has a Kohler motor. The manual says its good for flat mostly, but i have 4 acres of hilly terrain, and other a few places, as long as you take it slow, it seems to handle it pretty well.

I've had an XT1 54" 5 summers now and it's a beast. I mow about 3 acres and about another 1.5 acres I kinda bushhog 3-4 times a summer with the deck all the way up. Heavy brush with trees starting in it. It runs through it just fine.

I think the 54 will be the best bang for your buck but that is because it's a garden tractor, not a lawnmower. If the rear wheels are bolted not a cotter pin hub it's a garden tractor.

just bought my first rider. And it was one of these. Waiting for saturday for home depot to deliver it since i'm not a full man, and I don't have a pickup. But nonetheless, I'm excited to try this bad boy out. I don't want to push mow a half acre anymore.

How’s the cadet holding up? Are you liking it? How much time does it take to do your half acre mow with it compared to a push mower?

Just bought one, i Like it, the main reason I got it was the 4 inch cut. I don't like to scalp the lawn and this was about as high a cut as I could find with out venturing into commercial whcih for my yard I just can't justify

I have been researching these; CR scores it about 8 points less than a John Deere. Not sure why, they seem to be engineered the same way, CC turns easier from what I can tell. I would prefer the twin with a 42" just to have the extra power and smoothness. My dad is the user at 92 years old. I need it to be reliable. Also, complaints about throwing a belt in the first or second use in either tractor- guessing this comes from engaging the PTO at high rpm rather than a lower setting; any ideas?

I've got a 2013 ltx1040. Surprisingly the little Kohler courage has held together ok. Mine has the fnr cvt transmission and it's ok but I'd rather have a hydrostatic. The only notable problems I've had are the PTO engagement handle because it was bent after a few years use and now that it's old the deck sits lower that its supposed too. On it's high setting it's only on 3 inches. Still mows level and does a decent job,but its gettin long in the tooth. It needs alot of little things done,if I'm gonna keep it.

I’m about to purchase this mower. Do you think buying the extended warranty is worth buying from Home Depot on this mower?
@BlakeLarson
@BlakeLarson 4 жыл бұрын
I would recommend trying to find a local equipment dealer that sells cub cadet. In my case at least it was the same machine for the same price but can be serviced in house. Usually comes with pickup/free delivery. Would be nervous about the big box store warranty service if something were to happen. Also, since I bought from the dealer I get priority service over people that didn’t buy from them when it comes to repairs.

The engine brand is critical. My 20 yr. old Scotts, made by John Deere, with a 16hp Kohler engine,, has had absolutely zero engine issues in just over 20 years. The new 2020 model John Deere riding mowers have Briggs & Stratton engines instead of Kohler. NOPE, NOPE, NOPE.

Hi, looking at purchasing an XT1 mower and was wondering if it cuts well at low engine speeds or if it has to be run at high RPM to cut. Also if it cuts wet grass well?
@stevieg.4816
@stevieg.4816 3 жыл бұрын
You might be the one I can help. I like to mow in just above idle, so yes if it's dry and not too tall or thick. Wet grass? I do that also but not at a slow speed and make damn sure I clean all the stuck grass out from under the deck when I am done. By a Garden tractor, more money but the thing will be stronger, made better, and will last.

Electronic PTO throws belts because it slams pulley into the belt rather than smooth motion with a manual level. Manufacturers love it because they sell more belts. Why they haven't been sued I don't know. Belts would last forever on old machines with manual mechanical PTO engagement. It's a crime, for real.

I have a xt1 lt50 and it cuts uneven. Its level,tire pressures are correct.. i noticed the left side of the deck dosnt float like the right side does so i got to looking and the deck hanger rod on the left side is pulled tight against the frame. I cant find a bent part. I took the belt off and it freed up the deck . When i put the tension on the belt it pulls the deck to the right against the frame not alowing it to float over the uneven ground... idk why this is happening

I own one it's 11/2 years old made by MTD simply........ falls apart. All plastic, Kohler 7000series 22hp is junk. I have a 1999 Scotts made by John Deere 20/48 with a 20hp Kohler Command. Honestly, the engine is bulletproof and still runs stronger than the 7000 series. Of course, I take care of it. Compression isn't off by much as when it was new considering its now over 20 years old and was my workhorse. Hindsight is 20/20 and now instead of buying the Cub Cadet XT1 46" Kohler 22 hp, I should have bought a new deck for the Scotts 20/48 that would have been a wiser decision from the standpoint of monetary value, duty, and reliability. The way they designed the Cub you might as well be a Lawnmower mechanic. The engine doesn't take long to start the surging in spite of changing everything from the tank, the lines, the fuel filter, cleaning the carb, re-building the carb, replacing the carb, new air filters not once but several times for all these parts. You can't tell me all the replacement parts are bad, get real. Not to mention that stupid throttle governor set up that's a frigging joke. What happened to keep it simple? Moron engineers over-designing to make you think it the next best thing your money can buy, they make it a nightmare. The nifty throttle control with that auto choke broke within the first year, all plastic. Replaced it with a separate push/pull choke and a metal throttle control lever. Hey, when I finished it looked better than factory and won't freeze up or break. Funny In the 20 years of hard use I worked on the Scotts very little. I could count on going out, starting it up, and getting my 20 acres done. I didn't have to work on it for half of the day before I could start mowing. This Cub looks good, but in my opinion, it's not so good. It's not just Cub Cadet either, it's all the lawn tractors put out by MTD. Funny how they all share the same parts mostly but the body shape is changed some and color. Don't believe me go look at them and watch those videos and ads about those machines and observe for yourself, high dollar Bic Lighters. They say you get what you pay for, but I'm not so sure that still stands true in today's market. Build it cheaper by using plastic and cheaper parts then sell it for $1800 to $3000 or more depending on your hot rod enthusiastic taste. I have no advice if you're looking to buy a new machine by today's standards. It's scary when you think how hard you worked for that money to make a purchase and they flim flam you with all these propaganda ads and new-fangled innovative changes which in the end are restrictive, proprietary, inferior, as well as having a limited life span, complete junk. Like it or not I speak the truth, this is from my experiences and that cannot be disputed, it's reality. Oh, I know of many others that share my feelings, yet you'll see videos from the fan boy's who pop out videos, first to make money from KZbin, free parts from the manufacturer, or simply because they want you to believe what they bought was the best to satisfy their ego, (bullshit). Remember, Cub Cadet was International Harvester not MTD, not even close to the same animal. If I help one person, just one make a better decision about their purchase than all the time and thought I put into this was certainly worth it. Now your on your own folks, good luck.
