Purchased a 46” XT1 last year and time for quick review. Two things I didn’t know of when I purchased it; the backup feature (turn key, push button and you have backup all the time) and the steering. With a large lawn I need to back up fairly often and my previous green machine was a pain to push the button every time I needed to back up. As to the steering-just say that my wife asked my how much I had to pay for the power steering option! It is that nice-especially compared to the muscle we needed to turn the green machine

I had a 2019 XT2 GX54 and loved it. Great features and it did an excellent job cutting our 3 acers of finished lawn. I used a tow behind brush hog for the other 6 acers of field grass. Just purchased a new 2021 model to replace the old one that was damaged in a vehicle accident while on a trailer. My wife mows the lawn with it and has enjoyed this series, as it is easy to operate and is comfortable to sit on for extended hours of operation.

@@sathyaarun4695 the XT2 is a heavy duty version. It has a better transmission, heavy duty axles, and is a stronger version of the XT1. It really depends on how and what you will be using this mower for. If you can find a local Club Cadet dealer near you, I would recommend that you stop by and talk to a salesman to help determine what will be the best model for your needs. My Neighbor has a H.D. XT2, with a Stamped Deck. It does a lousy job cutting on the left blade. I have an XT2, from a Tractor Store, "Cub Cadet Rep." Mine has a Fabricated Deck, cuts cleanly and evenly with both blades, even with the mulch kit. Also mine has a Kawasaki Two Cylinder Engine. This Engine "Purrs." A lot less fatigue from engine noise. I have the snow blower for my XT1 42", the engine has plenty of power to run it. The issue you'll run into with the XT1 and XT2 is traction, until you step up to the garden tractor series with the locking rear differential which after running my XT1 I wish I would have went to a dealer and bought the XT3 shaft drive, just a much better built machine with many features that would be great on a machine that gets used for other chores not just mowing. You can get the XT2 GX54 with the locking differential, I'd pay the extra money and buy the upgraded machine for your blower. The engine will have no trouble powering through the deep stuff, and you'll still want a set of chains and rear weight kit to get you the best traction and if your driveway has any hills the weights and chains will get you up the hill in the ice/snow that the XT1 and XT2 non-diff lock models will leave you stuck on. My driveway is flat so I have no trouble with traction with the chains and weight kit which I'll have to use in anything more than about 4 inches of snow, otherwise it'll leave the tires doing too much spinning and no forward momentum, plus its easier on the machine not spinning the tires like that anyways. If you can afford it the XT3 GSX is the top end of the Cub Cadet line with a driveshaft to the transmission instead of being belt driven like other riding mowers. Virtually maintenance free in that regard.

I bought this mower last year (2020) and planned on it serving me for several years. I was proud of my new mower! I changed the oil and filter at 4.8 hours and used it most of last summer. It sat in my carport during the winter. I changed the oil and filter again at 11.1 hours before using it this spring. I had been using it approximately 15 - 20 minutes when I heard a loud bang and it stopped immediately. I took it to an authorized service center and after contacting MTD (Cub Cadet Corporate) they will not cover the warranty and fix my almost brand new mower! I talked to corporate and asked them what I could have done to prevent this, and their answer was they wished they could tell me, but they are not going to fix my mower. I will never buy another Cub Cadet product, nor recommend to anyone I know! Through no fault of my own, this mower turned out to be highly defective, and Cub Cadet is being penny wise and dollar foolish!

What part of the mulch kit doesn't work? I have the mulching plug on my XT1 42" deck, does fine, except it blows even more clippings all over the operator than in side discharge mode...they really should have a baffle kit that goes on the front of the mower deck to keep clippings under the deck better in mulching mode. I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. kzbin.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

Just keep the front wheel bearings on the XT1 greased (grease gun) and they too will last the life of the tractor.

No, MTD owns them now and mostly going to no-name Chinese parts unfortunately making an already junk MTD product even worse.

If the only thing you're going to do with this machine is cutting grass, the engine is fine. The only problem I've ever had with the engine is that it's underpowered. I pull alot of heavy stuff with it. I thought the transmission was going to be the weakest link after I put the weights and chains on. No, it's the engine. It's ok though, once I blow it up I'll just install a better engine. Then I'm sure the transmission will blow. Then I'll upgrade the transmission to a better one. Stuff will stop blowing up eventually.

@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 3 жыл бұрын
The spindles are greaseable on my 2017 XT1...however they don't have bearings in the wheels just plastic sleeves....when those wear out I'll find bearings to replace them, I know a few videos on youtube exist of people doing bearing swaps in them, I need to do that too...

@wildbill23c

@@venvnco6259 Troy Bilt has some that still have the regular transaxles in them. Cub Cadet doesn't have any with the old style 6 speed transaxles anymore, they've gone 100% to hydrostatic....no issues with mine in what is now my 4th season with my XT1 42" with the Kohler 18HP engine....I did change the oil in the transaxle at the end of last season, the terrible hydro whine is gone now, used regular 30 weight engine oil. My previous lawn tractor had the 6 speed transaxle, yep I do prefer it for towing heavy loads, but with what I do now the hydro does fine. I also prefer the manual because you just select the gear and throttle position and its automatic cruise control, the cruise control on the Hydro Cub Cadets is pretty finicky and only a couple of positions to choose from, and manual transaxle and changing the throttle position gives infinite cruise options LOL. Prior to my last lawn tractor I had an old Craftsman GT6000 garden tractor...it took care of 2 acres of lawn/pasture grass for 21 years before the engine decided that it should part ways with one of the connecting rods :(. I miss that old garden tractor, I'd love to get another one of them but where I live they're pretty far and few between. I may try the Cub Cadet XT3 Garden tractor at some point but trying to avoid buying anymore lawn/garden tractor stuff, I'm trying to save up to get a Sub-Compact or Compact tractor instead.

I purchased CUB CADET XT1 46” Brand new for 2018 season. It lasted as long as the warranty. The engine died before my first cut 2022. I am heartbroken 💔 and out thousands of dollars. No one talks to you except to say sorry buy another. I would not recommend this tractor.

DO NOT BUY they are all made by MTD. They are all the same. Everything that made them good is now gone they don't even make tillers for any one of them how can you even bother calling them a tractor? all they do now is moew. Their customer service is a total ass and they have no idea what's going on with any of their products they couldn't even tell me if they had a read PTO.
