I totally agree with your statement about taking care of your own equipment. When I started lawncare I knew absolutely nothing about maintenance over the years I've tried to tackle just about anything lawnmower related some failures and many more successes. Enjoyed the video💯👍🏾

I use a blower and blow the grass, etc off the deck everytime I mow. I also put green goop in the wheels to prevent flats. Works great.

I have a friend who has a lawn service. He blows his too. I tested foam in one tire that was leaking and the green stuff in the other.

If you're still running that thing, I'd suggest swapping the front tires with airless flat free tires. As for the back one, if that still leaks, try adding some green Slime. Did that for mine and only ever have to top off the rear tires after winter lay up.

I put the green slime stuff in the second back tire. I have to top it off about every other week. The first back tire holds up well

Thank you for the good, down to earth refresher. Getting ready to do my annual on the same mower. One question I had that I thought I checked before but not 100% on: Do these spindles need greased? Or are they the internally sealed kind? Was thinking they had no place to grease them if I remembered correctly? Thanks, again!
@WadeCountryLiving
@WadeCountryLiving 2 жыл бұрын
Spindle bearings are sealed bearings and do not require grease. Front wheel spindles need greasing.

I am wondering about all the places that should be greased/lubricated. The manual is not great. Would you make a quick video on that, please?
@countrylivingwiththewades8784
@countrylivingwiththewades8784 3 ай бұрын
@@sallyknutson6595 There aren't many places to be greased, the front wheel spindles. On the deck, I think all the bearings are sealed, not needing greasing. It's time to do maintenance again. I'll video that and verify the grease points.

If you have the same setup, yours will have a fuel pump that normally requires the choke to be fully engaged to start quickly.

I had the same problem until I adjusted the cable going to my choke/throttle. I found a video on it somewhere and 5 minutes later mine has started perfect ever since! It needed tightened because when I moved lever up to choke it wasnt.

I just bought the exact mower. $250. 140 hours. I replaced the battery and she fired right up. Only issue is white smoke from the exhaust. It was getting late so couldn’t let it run. But will tomorrow. Great video on the maintenance. Any ideas. ???

I would think that is something with the fuel.

Suggest replace as much hydraulic fluid as possible. My unit Approx 80 hours and hydraulic fluid was black. Had to suck out old fluid and replace with same amount with new. Seems like control had better response.

Food for thought. Oils break down with heat, motor oils, transmission oils, coolant oils, etc. All of these oils have additives to resist heat breakdown, to resist oxidation (rust inhibitors), and so forth. I have worked with very large chillers and compressors where we would take oil samples every 3 months or 6 months and send the samples out to be analyzed. Question: did you by chance pass your black fluid through a paint strainer? Metal wear should show up as tiny particles in the filter. That would indicate gear unusual gear wear. Maybe I should sample mine.

Country Living: I was able to pull most of the hydraulic oil out using a small hand pump.via the Allen fill plug. It was “black & nasty” looking. No reason to sample, I just replaced amount removed with new oil. Plan on doing this with annual maintenance. Once again “Great Video”!

@@ChillinwithCav I put a 2x4 under the back end of the deck to hook it up then connect the front rod. Then I can just pull the belt back over the edge of the drive pulley and rotate it while holding the belt in place.

That has to be the worst idea possible for disposing of old oil. If you can't dispose of it properly, don't do the job. Pour in the new oil, dump old oil into the now empty containers and return them to the auto parts store where you bought your oil to recycle. It's not that hard. Don't be lazy.

You are correct. There are ways to properly dispose of used oil to be recycled. I will do that. Thank you.
