CUBA 2020: Melia Internacional Resort Varadero

This is a vlog style review of the Mélia Internacional resort in Varadero, Cuba. This is the first of a few videos from Cuba, so stay tuned for more! Comment and subscribe!
REVIEW: This resort is absolutely amazing and you get everything you pay for, and more! Food - lots of different things to choose from, that will please any palate! Beach - the best stretch of beach in Varadero! Crystal clear waters and it warms up during the day. Mind you, I went in mid January so it will be much warmer during the summer. White sand and service is available on the beach as well. Service - impeccable service to be honest. People are only human, but for the most part, the resort workers try to give you a pleasant experience. Opening doors, pulling out your chairs, etc. I want to should out some names! Kenia - server BeBe - best entertainer ever Elian - Tex Mex server Sade - server Adelise - server Lisandra - server Andiel - beach server Adolfo- amazing dancer Entertainment - throughout the day, there are various forms of entertainment from dancing to live music! Ends early enough so that you can sleep! Cleanliness - very clean and pristine conditions on this resort. The rooms are cleaned everyday. They mop, line up your shoes, etc. Safety - Varadero is a very safe peninsula and we were able to walk the streets at all times in peace! The locals are very pleasant people! OVERALL: 5/5 If anyone has anything bad to say about this resort, it was probably due to an isolated incident. P.S. I am not being paid for this review! Thank you!

I went here for my honeymoon and I loved Cuba so much and this hotel is one to die for! Everything was lovely would 100 percent recommend , also the tours they have are great!

I wish they were this lively when we booked. We planned to visit in March 2019 and when we arrived they weren't even ready for guests yet. Ladders were all over the place, the VIP area (that we paid for) wasn't even built yet. They kind of ruined us for Varadero. We are coming back to Cuba in 49 days and plan to stay in Havana and visit Vinales.

Pullman is a fantastic resort also . I will be going here in Jan so I can compare . But I would highly recommended the pullman. The beach is amazing and amazing food especially for Cuba . I ate shrimp and fresh fish everyday !

Ooooh, that is exciting! We had just a regular room, had a King bed and a view of the main road in Varadero. It was nice because even though we didnt have a view of the beach, we saw spectacular sunrises every morning! It felt so luxurious already so I couldn't imagine what the level is like. You will have more access to different restaurants, services, beach area and more! I do hope you enjoy!

greg hey so I don’t think in the Level area of the beach you will get wifi, but I remember getting decent wifi in the regular area of the beach. You were able to lounge on a chair and web browse. The wifi is kind of annoying though because as soon as you connect, you have 5 hours of wifi. If you don’t disconnect when done, it will keep using it. Then you either have to go to the front desk or call from you let room to reactivate the wifi.

Keondra Arshon hey girl, thanks for watching my vid! You should definitely make your stay in Cuba at this resort! I keep reminiscing and wishing I was back lol! it is the newest hotel and definitely has the best stretch of beach in Varadero. You should also take a walk into Varadero, it is so beautiful, clean, authentic, full of art, music and culture. Our travel package people Holasun did offer us excursions and one to Havana, but we met some friends at the hotel, so we cancelled the excursion and hired a driver and tour guide for the day, which was so much more awesome and authentic! I have a video on our trip to Havana as well, you should check it out! If you wanna know anything else, I’m your girl! 😊

Keondra Arshon old Havana is amazing!!!! I don’t have any recommendations for places to stay there because I stay at my uncles house but some places you should visit is old Havana, Chinatown - you can get some photos at the gate, it is very beautiful lol, also a few streets down from there you can find the capitol which is beautiful!!! Especially at night. It’s a huge plaza and it’s in the middle. They have a tour also for not too expensive it’s about 20 minutes and they take you inside. Many places to eat everywhere with many options so you won’t have to worry. You should try the male con as well, and paseo del Prado is beautiful to walk around and take pictures, and many stead near there are great also

Great video babe!! My family and I are planning to stay at this resort. How would you describe the food there? Did they have a good selection of food when ordering room service?

tineebee thank you for watching! The food is not as bad as people normally say it is. I found that if you can handle a lot of pork and seafood products, then it’s okay. There is chicken, beef, lamb, etc., but I’m used to my food having lots of seasoning and I found that there was sometimes a lack of it. Nothing a little salt and pepper can’t fix! There’s lots to choose from in the buffet, and tons of restaurants. I recommend the Tex Mex restaurant! I also love the snack bar, it’s a great hangout to chill and eat a hot dog or some fries and it’s 24 hours. I believe the room service is for those who paid extra for the Level service, but I did just well without it! Thanks again for watching, and you and your family are going to absolutely have an amazing time. One week wasn’t enough!

Yes, I believe you might need a visa, depending on where you’re travelling from. I travelled from Canada, but I’m not a citizen, so I required some sort of visa that I received in transit. Thanks!

The hotel is probably less than 2 years old, so everything was definitely immaculate when we went. I would say everything looks better in person to be honest, especially the views of the pool and ocean. I hope you can make it girl, you’ll definitely get some sexy ass snaps for IG! Anna Orofiamma hey thanks for the comment! They had different shows every night while we were there for the week. For example, all white night, Cuba night, Beach Party, Latin Night. It was great, and the music and dancing was so infectious every time! Some were singers, dancers, swimmers, bands. It was really very enjoyable!

Hi Leona, i absolutely love that place, my hubby and i was supposed to go down this month, but cancelled and we are heading somewhere else in a few weeks. he is set on all the negative he heard about the food. do they have internet in the rooms at the malia? i was looking at going to ocean vista azul , or Grand Aston in santa maria. its after i cancelled i saw this resort pop up.

Lainey FABULOUS awe man I would definitely go to Melia again! We were looking at Ocean Vista Azul as well and were set on it but I was concerned about the amount of sun time on the pool (thought the building would block it). They have great internet service in the rooms, and even some access on the beach. You just have to renew the internet every 5 hours (front desk or call from room). I found that going out into Varadero and other places in Cuba. The food was exceptional! They don’t use too many spices so be mindful (I put salt and pepper on everything), but they certainly have a big variety of food so you’re sure to find something you like. There are a la carte restaurants and the buffet also has areas that you can make custom food (eg. pasta). I hope this helps! Where did you decide to go?

Hi Michael, yes it is all inclusive. You are able to pay more for the “Level” suites. You can also pay for additional things such as the beach beds, extra excursions, things like that. 😊

Cinthya 122130 hey! Thanks for watching and the comment! We were in a regular room that was facing the back of the hotel. Our view wasn’t of the ocean, but we saw Varadero’s main road and had the best view of the amazing sunrises! The room had a king sized bed, tv, large bathroom, a safe, all the necessities, and it was cleaned daily with a mini fridge restock! It was very comfortable and clean!

Cinthya 122130 I would absolutely recommend this hotel! I honestly didn’t have any issues here and I’m a picky person! If I were to be nitpicky, I would say I didn’t like hearing the wind through our hotel room sometimes, or that the weather wasn’t scorching hot, but those are things you can’t really control. It was a very comfortable stay, like I felt like I had no cares in the world, other than what leisurely activity I was gunna do next, and I think that’s how you should feel on a vacation!

Cinthya 122130 also, we went on excursions so we met other people from other hotels and they have somewhat nightmarish stories compared to how our stay at Mélia was. I remember a man was walking along our stretch of the beach (he was from another hotel, have wrist bands to differentiate), and he asked us how our stay here was because the hotel looked absolutely beautiful lol. It was actually great. Could call down from the room to re-activate it after it expires. Even reaches the beach, so nice to lounge 😊

Well if I remember correctly, it does expire every 2 hours or so after you activate it, but I think if you keep calling down to front desk to renew it, it should stay on continuously. I do remember it always being available while I was there
