Westjet is shutting Sunwing down in April. Sunwing was always a better price than Westjet vacations with better service and a free checked bag, so they bought them to remove the competition. They shut down Swoop right after buying them. Congratulations Canada! Your airline monopoly gotvefen worse than it already was.

When I find a good deal, I Take the money saving for give not just at the Hotel but take a walk to the town you will find people to give. And a good tip, when you buy clothes that you never wear or Underwear (new) Last time I brought about 20 I Know they where very happy.

We are looking at coming to Melia Las Americas in late April early May. We have been here many times and we have at the point in life it is what it is. We also enjoy our trip to Costa Rica as well .We have been lucky enough to travelled the world and appreciate going to Cuba to enjoy the beach the people and the resort of our choice no matter what happens there is a beautiful beach and fabulous beautiful people 😊

I watch your videos and truly appreciate your honest thoughts.as we were on the fence of going back to Cuba and thought perhaps we needed to find a new place to visit as we mulled over the pros and cons of traveling there again. It is a Challenge for the Cubans and we know a lot of people that we have met over many years are not going to be there when we go back as many people have gone on what we hope is a better life . I always love watching the kiters at Guillermo, totally cool! I never would have thought first week in Jan. was a good bet but checked awhile ago and there are some good deals. Who knew? Understand the Starfish is pretty basic but it seems to have its fans. Its a good location. The piers there are so much fun. When oh when will they let us take the bus and visit other associated resorts again? That was the best. Think about it Cayo Coco resorts , it will improve traffic! Thanks Mike.

Hey Mike, I'm heading back to Cuba in January - 5th time at VPB in CSM... I was able to secure 4 solo rooms by calling Sunwing - the agent put in a request for me and after a little while on the phone we got 4 solo rooms all at the same price as the doubles ($885 1 week from Ottawa!) Always worth a phone call to see :) Anyway, we really enjoy your videos. Maybe we'll see you sometime!

Hey Mike, a guy I met in Cuba that is there all the time like you, sometime doesn’t fly back. He deals with the flight representative to get him a good price to stay at the same resort or another resort which comes to less because he’s not flying back. Just a suggestion. Good information Mike. As an engineer, I have a bit of insight as to the power generation infrastructure issues in Cuba and it’s only going to get worse. Their old tech oil burner plants are far beyond their service life. They have no spare parts and even if they had the money, you can not buy them anymore. Unfortunately, Cuba is so broke they can’t build new efficient power plants and no one will lend them money because the govt has mismanaged funds in the past. Resort guests are live commenting how horrible it is and all the shortages. Being miserable but having a nice beach is not worth any discount. Locals off resort are very resentful that they give up their food for the tourists. I just booked Mexico because it’s a great deal and they have zero shortages and everyone reviewing the resorts are very pleased. Everyone do their homework.

Trip central was always $100 more for every resort I looked at then the price right off Sunwing website. I’m down here in Cayo Coco for the second time this fall. I stayed at Sanctuary White Sands the first time now I’m staying at Malia Jardines Del Ray. it’s Dec 12 and this resort has beautiful beach if you like to snorkel but white sands was much better for quality. The food selection is less and the quality is also less however I have not gone hungry and I’m still enjoying myself. Just noticed the difference between these two resorts so far. I will still continue coming here as this was only $850 for five days and White sands was $900 for five days right from Sunwing website. Keep posting your videos as I am using your trips as a reference to how the weather is and the quality of the resorts. Cheers

I met a couple from Michigan on the Cuban bus.They cross the border into Windsor, tell Cdn. customs just visiting in Ontario, then take Sunwing out of Windsor (or London) to a Cuban resort They are absolutely carefull not to return with any Cuban souvenirs, literature, rum etc. when they clear customs at Detroit. Just had a nice trip to Toronto!

Also make sure to tear off all the Sunwing or Air Transat tags off of your luggage when you clear US customs! Leave no evidence of your Cuban trip. Might have to go light on the facial tan!
