Unfortunately, Latin America is passionate about socialism, hence the misery and poverty in the region. I live in Brazil, a country where after being arrested for embezzling billions of dollars in corruption scandals and using Brazilian resources to help the Venezuelan and Cuban dictatorships, Luiz Inácio LULA da Silva won the last elections to be president of the country. This victory of socialism in Latin America comes largely thanks to the large international media, partly socialist, which accused our previous president of promoting deforestation in the Amazon, and now with Lula in power, deforestation has increased even more and Brazil has returned with its policy of helping neighboring socialist dictatorships. I ask you foreigners to research the risks that Brazil and Argentina are currently experiencing of becoming socialist dictatorships. Currently, President Lula is trying to pass a gag law in Congress to prevent the population from expressing themselves on social networks. the project has no chance of passing the congress, which is mostly right-wing here in Brazil, but the STF, which is the Brazilian supreme court, which mostly has members appointed by the current president Lula, said that it would prevent social networks in Brazil if the project did not pass, in a clear demonstration of his dictatorial interests. Pray for Latin America.

As a solo female traveler I rented a small apartment in Vedado and would walk daily to the old town or even to Fabrica de Arte at odd hours of the night (accompanied off course), without ever feeling unsafe. Cuban people are very hospitable, very sympathetic and sociable. But what shocked me most is how educated they are, I'm not necessarily talking 'book smart' although yes it's very true for a lot of them, but they have an incredible level of knowledge and wisdom regarding the human condition, philosophy and spirituality as well. This is a country where you’ll learn the true value of 'don't judge a book by its cover' and where you might learn your biggest life lesson from chatting with an elderly sitting on a bench at Parque Central. My best memories from travelling will forever be from visiting Cuba. It thought me how to stop running and looking for things to fulfill me outside of myself. There, I found myself doing things like setting up and alarm to watch the sunrise on the Malecon. I found myself coming to terms with coexisting with the neighbours' rooster cackling at all time of the morning, coexisting with all the other elements of nature which are bigger than we could ever comprehend. I don't want to seem idealistic or make it sound like everything is perfect in Cuba, on the opposite. According to my Canadian eyes, I saw lots of things needing 'fixing'. But above that, what I choose to remember from this magical island is the people, so proud of their culture they will do anything to protect it from becoming just that, history. There are 666 comments before me. What an honour it is from me to share part of my history forever meshed with that of Cuba.

Cuba me duele mucho. #NOTRAVELTOCUBA, #SOSCUBA, #CUBAESTADOFALLIDO

I wouldn't want to live there, but having been to Habana once, I'd like to visit again and see more of the country. I enjoyed the people, art and music. Food was OK but not a lot of variety and some things are scarce. We made friends there easily through our contacts. Unlike Mexico and other countries, where a lot of English is spoken, having Spanish skills would help a lot. Interesting history, buildings, and monuments of course.

@@pategan6747 That's an interesting point, though I don't know if it reflects reality. Cuba imports most of its food, and tourism is a great deal of the economy. The contribution has fluctuated with Covid and the recovery. Meal for meal, you have to admit that the population of tourists at any time is minuscule compared to the resident population. I read that some food imports are controlled by the military and ends up in government stores and tourist businesses. I know it is sad situation. The people should not be so poor.

I noticed Havana becoming more vibrant where they started restoring many buildings. The last time in 2017, I stayed there for a week after Hurricane Maria that left much devastation. I started to see the garbage and demolition left on the streets as in this video. I thought it was because of the hurricane. It's very sad that Covid put a halt to Havana's economy. @@WannaWalk Western countries are all vassal states of the USA. At the end of the day, these countries don’t have full freedom and if USA would want certain countries to not fully invest in Cuba those countries would listen. I don’t know what glasses you put on to not see this and to ridiculously ask for proof or sources or whatever just open your eyes and take a look at how 99% of the time western countries align themselves with USAs interests. Want more concrete examples? I’ll give you one. A few months ago The UN assembly adopted a resolution submitted by Russia: "Combating the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to the escalation of modern forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance". Obviously you’d expect European countries to vote in favor right? Well guess what USA aren’t fond of Russia for resisting their military expansion so they voted AGAINST. Guess who else voted against? Big majority of Western Europe. I’m not even gonna begin about how the sanctions against Russia actually impact way more Western Europe and every politician knows this but yet still does as daddy usa wishes. Cuba is poor for 2 reasons: 1-(main one) USA 2-almost the only communist country in capitalist world.

U.S. proxies seized cuban goods aboard a Korean ship in the Panama canal. Any ship which has traded with cuba cannot enter an American port for 6 months which makes it very difficult logistically for ships that might trade with Cuba to even make a fuel stop on their way back around. Companies that trade with Cuba can be punished by the US and the US can ban them from entering american markets (that is thousands of times bigger than Cuba's) as well. So no, it is not as simple as "Cuba can trade with anyone other than the US".

I visited Cuba in 2019 just before Trump put the kabash on cruise lines like Carnival which is what I was on. The country from the short time I was there was a sharp contrast from what I expected. The people were very friendly of course and the tourist stuff abounds. Also the places where we were taken to eat were more abundant in food for us than the people normally gets according to our guide. I truly enjoy watching these behind the scenes videos because we did not have enough time to see this.

Your vlog is very realistic and very fine filmed. How wonderful is the message transmitted by this life, of the Cubans, for the entire world!... The poor are trying to be happy with all that their lives reserve and they can really find happiness! On the opposite, the others-the riches, will not forever be happy, because they want more and more to be happy and finally they will pass their life and nothing will be transported in the "other" world...Thank you "Wanna Walk"!👍👍👍 P.S. These people remind me of the Romanian people between 1955-1965 when I was a child. We were living the same way (without waiting for the food lines)... They are living between the ruined buildings, but every one of them is wearing clean habits-as respecting themselves. It's a "transposition" of the life that I lived in my childhood, into the 21st Century. It is very, very, interesting this wonderful lovely Cuba!!!

@WannaWalk Жыл бұрын
Thanks Dennis! I won’t recommend street food in Cuba. They don’t have refrigerators or any other hygienic way of manipulate food. I would only buy fruits or some freshly cooked product. Gastronomic stores are very limited but acceptable. Basically, common sense.

KKTTSS, That DESTRUCTION has been for the 64 years of COMMUNIST government. That is given by the aberrant communism, which is hunger, needs, misery, strict control over the population and ruthless repression!!!!!!! The people are NOT to blame for anything, because they live enslaved, robbed, repressed, abused and terrorized by the communist government.

Besos y felicidades
@WannaWalk Жыл бұрын
Hola. Muchas gracias.

17 $ a month, but if you add no rent, no taxes and free medical care (which is quite good - the Cubans' life expectancy is quite high), it becomes hundreds if not thousands... And if talking about times before the revolution - there were some rich streets and lots of those as you show in your vodeos. In fact, Havana was sometimes called "a brothel of Florida". People often forget about dark sides, seeing only casinos and bars for rich people.

I have been to Cuba and I love the island, and especially love the Cuban people. They are extremely friendly, outgoing and fun loving. I am very sad about the terrible condition of the island in recent years. The Cubans somehow figure out ways to work around it. I have subscribed to many Cubans in Cuba that keep updated KZbin vlogs of their lives. They tell it like it is. But, no matter what, I still say Americans should go there and you will have a great time.

The country has plenty of potential. If I return for a visit to Cuba, I will visit the countryside (places like Vinales) and provincial cities like Trinidad. Havana is downright depressing, with filthy streets littered with garbage, crumbling buildings everywhere, disgusting street food, and non-stop touts trying to scam tourists in Old Havana. I visited last year, and realized to what extent the Cuban economy depends on tourism and the hard currency that it brings in. All of that dried up during Covid when it was impossible for tourists to enter the country. Some of the commenters praising free rent, free healthcare and all the other free stuff have clearly not been there. The hospitals have zero medical supplies, and the pharmacies have bare shelves. Cuba is experiencing a high level of inflation (just like the US), while the Cuban Government has not increased wages.

I am a Brit who has lived in Thailand for the last 20 years ,BUT 17 dollars a month ,are you sure ? minimum daily wage in Thailand is about 400 baht ( ten pounds) or 12 dollars . tourism is the answer but you need good economies in the visiting countries obviously ,also the Chinese to stop poisoning the world with their bacteria would help . Got to be millions of freezing north Americans waiting for a sunny beach ,a warm evening stroll ,an outdoor restaurant table ,and that also
