The fact that some of these men were still in USP Atlanta as late as 2006 is wild af.

I was unlucky enough to spend time with the Cuban gang leaders at Fort Gordon, Ga., in 1988 after the Cuban nearly burned down Atlanta and Oakdale, LA. They were absolutely crazy dudes. I spent 30 straight days with them for 12 hours per day.

I was bar hopping down the beach in Key West one night in April 1980. I woke up in the hospital with a wicked concussion and a compound fractured arm. Unbeknownst to me, Castro had emptied the Cuban prisons and the Mariel boat lift criminals were coming ashore that night. I was robbed of some change and I have had headaches for 43 years. Later I had drug deals with Cubans who were straight out of Al Pacino’s Scarface, the desperate characters who dismembered Angel with a chainsaw in the shower stall. One guy was on the Most Wanted Fugitive list! They were vicious and required extra security measures on all transactions. Although there were a few decent ones, many were violent beyond most square Americans wildest imaginations.
