I highly recommend his book, The Last Mafioso! It's one the best written about Cosa Nostra's business, culture, and life. I read it as a teenager when it was released in the early 1980s, and along with The Godfather novel, inspired me to become a historian on the subject. A must-read with the help of the great Ovid Demaris.

@N P I also recommend MOB BOSS by Jerry Capeci if you liked The Last Mafioso. It's about Little Al D'Arco, the former acting boss of the Luchese crime family. It gives the reader plenty of insight into the New York mafia life and history. An excellent read!

@@GSF4life14 Phil Lombardo supposedly ran the family up until 79-81. Maybe later than that. Who knows. The Genovese used more than one front boss, at the same time. Catena, Tieri, Salerno, the list goes on.

@josephsierzengaIV
@josephsierzengaIV 2 жыл бұрын
@@GSF4life14 actually Fat Tony was appointed Boss by Benny. Very shortly after being appointed Boss Fat Tony had a stroke and not knowing the long term effects, he retired making way for Chin to take the reins. After about 6-8months of laying low recuperating at his horse farm upstate NY Fat Tony got bored and couldn’t stay away from the action… wanting back in Chin installed him as Front Boss and let him handle a lot of the day to day… Aside from Chins whole crazy act, this is why the FBI was adamant and convinced Fat Tony was Boss and further confused the Government and helped Chin even more in eluding the law for as long as he did…the FBI assumed Fat Tony was just convalescing when in actuality his intentions were to retire full time and not return at all to the life…Chin had taken over officially and put Fat Tony back in as Front Boss and had him primarily deal with Commission issues keeping the microscope on Fat Tony and not him… which turned out to be a very clever move! Sammy Gravano just did a pod-cast explaining the transition of power with the Genovese Family and how it went down with Benny Squint, Fat Tony and Chin.
