Dude, i don’t know where to start. 1) this drink looks great, b) your voice is super trippy, iii) you scared the bejesus out of me taking the lime peel while pulling towards your thumb, and D) great video. Thank you.

I love the history parts to your vids! And whats the music on this one?
@DistinguishedSpirits8 жыл бұрын
Great to hear. The context gives it a little something extra. Glad you dig it. In terms of the music, I usually try to put their credit in the Description. Although, I don't always remember to do it. Anyway, in this case it is "Cuba Libertad" by Stefan Netsman. Hope that helps. Cheers!

Is there a difference between Orange Curaçao and triple sec? Can they be substituted for one another?
@DistinguishedSpirits8 жыл бұрын
They are different styles of what are essentially orange liqueurs. It can be like American and Scotch whisk(e)y. The sweetness and dryness of Curaçao and Triple Sec depends on the brand. Grand Marnier is sweet, Cointreau is drier and Combier is even drier. Those are all Triple Secs. The Curaçao I'm using it pretty dry. This recipe specifically called for Curaçao, but it could have been made with Triple Sec, especially given how little was being used. In the final drink, there's only a hint of orange flavor. Here's a couple articles about the difference in orange liqueurs: www.thekitchn.com/curaao-triple-sec-and-in-between-an-orange-liqueur-crib-sheet-the-9bottle-bar-205372 www.alcademics.com/2011/02/whats-the-difference-between-orange-curacao-and-triple-sec-.html drinks.seriouseats.com/2012/08/which-is-the-best-orange-liqueur-triple-sec-curacao-cointreau-grand-marnier-reviews.html

How reasonable would it be to use Cointreau instead of Orange Curaçao in a pinch?
@DistinguishedSpirits8 жыл бұрын
In a pinch, in this case because so little of it is being used, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. The orange flavor is pretty subtle. Just an accent.

Love the series and drinks in general, but could you consider adding a "skip here for recipe" button inside the video? I often find myself jumping through videos when I watch them a 2nd time later on just needing the recipe when making the drink.
@DistinguishedSpirits8 жыл бұрын
The printed recipe is always down in the Description if you wanna use that for reference.

Never noticed that! Thank You!

sounds really Good, your simple syrup is 2:1 right?
@DistinguishedSpirits8 жыл бұрын
Simple (1:1) works best, but I was using some Rich Simple Syrup (2:1) I had left over for the shoot.

Question: As you mentioned, Americans can't buy Cuban products in the USA. But, Canadians can buy Cuban products. So, can Americans buy Cuban rum via Canada???
@DistinguishedSpirits8 жыл бұрын
Us Americans can get out grubby little mitts on Cuban rum whenever we're out of the country. We're are not supposed to bring it back, but those rules are slowly eroding. Maybe one day the Cold War will end...

Distinguished Spirits One day....... or, if Canada finds a way to legally sell Cuban cigars and rum to America.

Couldn’t you just build this in the glass with a lime twist? Seems like it would save time.
@DistinguishedSpirits6 жыл бұрын
It's about controlling the amount of lime in the drink and, of course, the presentation. But make them back-to-back, one built, one stirred and strained. You'll find a difference in the two. Cheers!
