@@Simula77 Im a Logic user but wanted to watch it as I am tempted to go over to PC because as Guy mentioned its a lot cheaper! I switched to Logic and Mac back at Uni when I did a Music Tech degree and I have loved using it ever since, but the value of PC has tempted me and I like Cubase and Ableton. But the release of the new Mac chip has made me think keep with Logic for the time being. As the new M1 chip can be run in parallel. I think Arm and Apple could deliver a serious blow to competitors in the power stakes. Even if the Mac hardware is double the price, if it had 4 M1 chips in it.....well the price would be worth that extra power. I see the geek bench looks good on this M1 chips. I think the PC market is running scared. I gather Apple are no longer allowed to use windows on bootcamp. Which maybe a development born out of fear. I would say hold fire on switching Logic to cubase for the time being and watch developments on the M1 chip. Also those 3 mic array on Mac Laptops sound amazing.

Good advice about transitioning from one DAW to another. I've been on DP for many years and just bought Cubase Pro 10.5 a few days ago. I've found Cubase quite easy to step into, and I find it does have some key similarities to DP (how it handles instrument and midi tracks for example). I also have Logic Pro X, which I've found exasperating, especially, as you say, with large orchestral templates. In any case, Cubase has an extremely rich environment and some wonderful tools to make your workflow efficient. I'm looking forward to exploring it further. Thanks for this video!

For me, Cubase 10.5 had many small bugs in it and even after several updates seemed to have worse performance when using 10-15 VSTs in a project. I tried to use it several times over the last year but got frustrated with the apparent diminished system performance issues so reverted to 10. If the positioning is "DAW for composing", Compared to Logic 10.5 and Live 11, Cubase 11 update is the least significant. Steinberg needs to revamp their developer team to bring a "wow" features. They put much focus in mixing instead of exploration and creativity. Logic 10.5 came with dozens creative tool mimicking Ableton. Ableton 11 come with new filter, fx and comping, and tempo follow (mimicking Logic). But Guy Michelmore did really great presentation here.

Obviously I'm a beginner, but when I do a project I rarely ever use more than 20-30 channels even for an orchestra. Is it really common practice to have up to 1000 different channels (instruments, audios and whatnot) to utilize simultaneously? I find that really hard to imagine as I'd figure that must be way overfreighted? I dont think I'll ever be able to imagine this much instruments playing along side each other? I'd much appreciate if you, or any other of you savy guys in the comments, could enlighten me a litte :) Cheers from Germany
