Cube & Scott e Bike Ride: Aviemore to Nethybridge.

You went straight on at Forest Lodge (north) at the diggers. Further down the hill you turned right (east) and found the house at Lyngarrie. You then returned west back up the hill and turned right continuing north again. Then sharp left (west) and then right (north again) to Dell Lodge and down into Nethy. If you were wanting the B970 back through towards Boat, you should have taken a sharp left at the diggers or branched off left just before the diggers. Both meet together after a few metres to descend west past Cuchanlupe to meet the C road to Loch Garten. (I live a few hundred metres from the Oakwood site and you passed my house…..) 😉 An OS map would show you where you went “wrong”.

Hi Nick. you're lucky to live where you live. We did do the ride again at a later date only the other way round and had an idea where we went wrong and passed the turn. We intend doing it again next time later this year and being more careful. It's a different world up there. It took me a while to find this video to check it lol. Many thanks.

I enjoyed that Derek the father brown of the Highlands! Some of that surface was really rough, and pretty steep too, I was watching and thinking this is a job for the Haibike. Beautiful scenery again, and getting lost again, even with Helen consulting I presume Google maps on her phone, it did think though that them diggers parked at the confluence of the trails definitely threw a spanner in the works! What was wrong with Helens power on that hill near the end, did it cut out? Also did you both set out with the same battery levels? I know Helen virtually lives in eco but that was some difference at the end, maybe yours wasn't fully charged. Fabulous ride again Derek, I'm more jealous than ever watching you both riding through some gorgeous areas. Cheers mate

Hi Daron. Wow! The first comment after two and a half days. This video must be leaving people speechless. Yes, your Haibike would love this sort of ride. I've been doing some detective work and the video 'Vulcan E Bike Big Final Ride' sees me going on my own over the Pass the other way. Starting at the angled gate near Nethybridge side I clock 6.1 miles up to the main road at Glenmore. Whereas on this film the Cube has clocked 6.4 miles up to where we meet the diggers. So we must have missed a turning. Helen stopped near the end because her cheap cyclometer packed up. It has to be clipped in its bracket really tightly and must have shaken loose. As far as I remember we both set off with a full charge. Helen is in 'Eco' most of the time and the whole bike and her must be a good 3 stone lighter. That makes a big difference. We have some sad news about Suzie. Having been under the weather with bladder infections every now and then, this morning Helen took her to the vets for a scan and they say she has bladder cancer. It's inoperative. It's all a bit upsetting. She is on some anti cancer treatment that could slow it down but it's not a cure. Only temporary. We don't know how long its been there and they say it could spread. Nicest little dog ever. She doesn't deserve this. She will be eight next month. At the moment you'd have no idea there was anything wrong. Still playing with her toys every now and then and jumping on the sofa. All we can do is look after her and make life as comfortable as we can. She has had a good life and is still with us. Again, Daron, thanks for the one and only comment and hope you are managing since leaving hospital. All the best to you and Gale.

If she's still playing with her toys and even being able to jump on the sofa, well that's a big positive for now, and let's hope it stays this way for as long as possible.
