The designer released a solo version for his previous push-your-luck game Mystic Vale so here's hoping Cubitos gets one too!

Absolutely! Though this is a really good start regardless.

The solo mode for Mystic Vale was lackluster imho.

@@jimpaek the Nemesis expansion worked fine for me, but I agree it wasn't anything special or exceptional. At least for my tastes!

@@OneStopCoopShop : wait, does Nemesis have a viable solo variant?

@@Ozasuke whoops, sorry for being unclear. Nemesis is the solo expansion for Mystic Vale. I wasn't talking about the Awaken Realms alien game :)

Glad you put out a video on this. I recently picked up the game and quite enjoy the solo variant . Except I also made a change to the red die mechanic. I made it so the bot starts with one red die and Everytime I successfully activate the red power they get another red die. It made it so that I had to consider buying more and more red die if I wanted to stay competitive .

I like it, good alternative to add reds back in.

Thanks for this solo play though with the rules modifications! I’m sure my family would enjoy this one but nice to see a solid solo mode as an option too :)

It works well, but multiplayer is certainly the best way to play :)

Looks like a fun variant. Thank you!

@@OneStopCoopShop I ended up buying the game. I had real fun with your variant so far.

@@jimpaek I wouldn't call it "mine", since 95% of it is from another BGG user, but glad you are having fun in any case!!

Don't know what happened to my other comment, but I wanted to say thanks for posting this! I think the real rule I have trouble coping with is that the AI benefits from the extra dice you gain when it's ahead. If it's ahead by one or more zones, then it rolls that many fewer dice of your choice.
@Ozasuke3 жыл бұрын
My other comment probably got nuked because it linked externally to BGG. If you have Sentinel, you should check out the unofficial variant in the Sentinel "Variants" forum on BGG titled "Solo variant possibility?". The designer, J. Alex Kevern, replies to the OP with a BYOS variant which is pretty good, and someone used that variant to make an AI opponent variant which I like even more. Sentinel thus became a permanent game in my board game collection (with Scythe, Friday, Deep Space D-6, LotR LCG, Under Fallen Skies, SW: Rebellion, Xenoshyft: Onslaught, and Nemo's War).

Ah, that is a good point. You could probably just cut the bonus dice entirely. But I like to think of it positively, and hope that I roll those dice to be active for myself ;)

Ooh i really like your modifications to Tom's variant (watched his video and didn't love the red die removal either). Wasn't gonna buy the game because of no one to play with, but this solo variant is satisfying enough that I might pick it up now! Will have to play around with the Automa's red dice though... Maybe they gain one every time you buy one, and they lose their red dice when they win a battle? Or their number of dice depend whether they're on an odd (1 dice) or even (2 dice) number on the fan track? WHO KNOWS! Gotta trial and error it then, but regardless-- great video :)
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! And yeah, more red modification is the one thing I’d like to play around with here

Do you plan to type up the changes you make to the variant?
