One of the greatest fairy-tales moments in sports-stories history, 07-years ago today.....The Chicago Cubs have finally ended their 108-years drought of long tormented cursed is over. They have earned my respect ever since winning the [2016] W.S. on 11/02/2016! #FlyTheW #GoCubsGo

I always end up in a puddle of tears every time I watch Eddie Vedder’s video or the highlights of the Cubs 2016 World Series championship. What other MLB team can take a 3-1 deficit and force a 7 game series…with extra innings…and a 2 hour rain delay? My grandpa, an immigrant from Sweden who fell in love with baseball after coming to Chicago, and my dad never saw their beloved Cubs win it all. How I wish I could share my joy with my dad! But I know that there was a party in heaven that night.

This was one of those moments as a sports fan you have to admire. I grew up a Cardinals fan in central Illinois where everyone was either a Cubs or Cards fan. I didn’t follow baseball too much as an adult but I was glued to the TV on this night rooting for the Cubbies and for sports history! It was pretty special to witness.

Both sets of grandparents (born between 1919 and 1930 respectively) and my father (born in 1954), all HUGE Cubs fans that never got to witness this historic moment. My mother and I watched the Cubs entire playoff run up until the final out of the 10th inning in Game 7 of the World Series. Like many others we cheered, and we cried, when that last out was recorded. We both held pictures of both sets of grandparents as well as a picture of my father together as we watched Game 7. I literally hit my knees after the last out. I pointed to Heaven and I said “God, I know You’re listening! I have one thing ti ask……FLY THE W!!!!!!!!”

New England during the sox run in 04 was insane. We had a saying about the yanks here, they killed our grandfathers, they killed our fathers, and now they are coming for us. 87 yrs of heartbreak erased in 1 day. Can count on 1 hand the amount of times ive seen my old man cry. First time he took me too his parents grave as a young boy, when Sinatra died, and when the sox won in 04, and when his aunt rose (who basically raised him) passed. That was pretty emotional for those of us in new England but i get you.

Years back I worked at a target store. They hired Santa over the Christmas holidays. One day I told him all i ever wanted for the rest of my life was a Cubs World Series win. he put his arm around my shoulders and said...."I'm sorry son, i'm not God, i'm Santa Clause and I can't do miracles.'" I guess God heard and finally decided a miracle was needed. For all those who didn't see it happen. For all the players who gace us great baseball. And for Harry Carey. God bless us one and all.

I will get flak on the internet for saying this. I'm born and raised in Seattle and we are now currently, the laughing stock, the team that won't make it, the team that has "fans" say "of course they lost." I still have hope and when it happens this city is going to fucking burn. There's still the population that loves our Mariners. Seeing the Cubs win made me extremely happy. If it takes a 181yrs to do it I won't be here, but I will support my home team.
