Seeing cuckoo falling out of nest was very satisfying. I hate that the video cut off before we could see if he fell all the way out. I guess we can only hope he did fall all the way out and that momma cuckoo doesnt come hurt the other babies.

@@andresanabria6075 yes, she will lay eggs in several different nests and check on them from afar. Normally she will kill all babies if her baby does not survive.

@@andresanabria6075 Some mother cuckoos destroy the brood of foster birds that remove the cuckoo egg or reject their baby. Mother Asian Koels (large brown cuckoos that parasitize crows and mynahs, adult male Asian Koels are black with red eyes) sometimes provide food for their babies but rely on the foster parents to do most of the care. Male Asian Koels have never been observed caring for their young, but may decoy host birds away from their nest so the female can lay an egg inside. Great Spotted Cuckoo babies (which parasitize Eurasian Magpies and crows) don't push eggs or foster nestlings out of the nest, but their mother monitors the nests where she lays her eggs, and will destroy the eggs or babies of foster parents that reject her own egg or baby. Brown Headed Cowbirds (which are not related to cuckoos, but which also parasitize other birds) will also sometimes retaliate by destroying the brood of foster parents that reject her egg or baby. Cowbirds also don't push foster eggs or nestlings out of the nest. In some areas of South America, they protect their foster siblings against parasitic flies that would kill them. In these places, the foster parents don't remove cowbird eggs from their nests. Many cuckoos raise their own offspring. These include the Yellow Billed and Black Billed Cuckoos of North America, Mexico's Groove Billed and Smooth Billed Anis (which have an extended family system) and South America's Guira Cuckoo, which also has an extended family system. With these cuckoos, any surviving offspring remain bonded with their biological parents for years, and assist them in raising younger siblings. Roadrunners are also cuckoos that raise their own offspring.

@@andresanabria6075 in some cases yes, but not this late I think. They will often check the egg stays and sometime after it has hatched. These babies are pretty old, cuckoo has likely moved on.
