As someone who ran their own M1008 a little too deep last year, let me tell you the Dana 60 didn't come with outer seals. You're going to want to pull the front diff cover and see how much water got mixed in. And it's a great time to add a lunchbox locker too.

These things are so stout in totally stock form. The 150 hp 6.2 just isn't enough to break much but it's backed by the unbeatable TH400, NP208(I think), D60/14B with 4.56s and the factory rear Detroit locker. I really see this thing going the way of the Alabama army truck around the time it got the LSA swap but maybe a Duramax instead. If you aren't aware, that was a 6" lift, 38" BFG M/Ts and a matching Detroit locker added to the front plus the addition of a snorkel. Keep up the content with this truck! I also have one of the rarest m1008s from 1977 didnt have a diesel but a "industrial" the parts sticker said 4bolt main 350 with the round headlights and straight up and down side marker from the 70s instead of the sideways one from the 80s. Back in '74 I bought a wrecked 3/4 ton 350 4 speed chevy that managed to drive thru a 6" highblock wall and foot edge . Front clip was done but the twisted radiator held pressure and worked when straight . Frame needed some tweaking at a frame shop and a '67 front clip was added , no fender wells . A 6" lift was built and added thats to florida spring and 36" monster mudders on 15" steel wheels . had to add a new cam and added headers so I could feel the engine in deep water Had to grind the disk rotors down some to keep them from touching the wheels . Added a dark metalic green . MY girl friend at the time could walk front to rear and never see her . WE went to a lykes bros. fish eating creek 4x4 state met and took it hood deep up a creek with no extra water proofing just air cleaner vented in to the cab and plumbers putty used on the distri cap door . It had a rear locker and limited slip front . Tires air down to 5lbs for the softer marsh areas . Added a 1/8" steel plate to the bed as the old one was rough but the extra weight made in hard to better when the going got interesting and a 6" pipe bumper at the rear I could add weight to or remove . had to run tail gat down in the deep water . The first date turned into almost 41 married years + 4 dating . The good ole days .
