Pets & Vets

Күн бұрын

This week on Dog Rescuers, the saved animals from last week have been able to be captured, treated and some have even found their perfect forever homes. We also take a look at how much hard work being a mum to two new puppies really is.
Dogs are the nation's favorite pet, but seeing how they can be treated might make you think otherwise. Comedian Alan Davies takes us into the world of dog rescuers, where we follow the RSPCA officers who are tasked with investigating reports of cruelty and neglect when it comes to man's best friend.

Agree. But the USA doesn't care for regulations on ANYTHING EVER. Anyone can fill their living room wall with loaded military assault weapons if they feel like it, bc it's all about everyones right to do anything regardless of what, how, when, to whom and any tragic consequences. Until there's a mass shooting or something that deems them a monster and puts them away where they learn to be professional criminals. Americans don't care about their own people, animals don't stand a chance at being entitled any minimum rights. You can buy a farmed 3 week lion cub off a mom and pop backyard situation in texas for 50 bucks as a gift for your buddy to keep on his balcony no problems. Or steal a bany seal off the beach when mom is off feeding and claim you're "rescuing an abandoned seal or sealion, (or squirrel, or owl etc etc) it's so accepted and tempting bc of" cuteness" it's a massive problem preservationists can't possibly keep up with bc there are no regulations at all. I don't know about the UK but these perps in the video would never be allowed to go home to those conditions in Scandinavia. They'd have to be in the social service system and get help with their obvious mental status and be part of a program as those living conditions would be condemned. There's probably a tragedy behind both of these miserable people that needs adressing or they'll break the law and do it all over again. It's not a human right to own animals at all. It's a privilege involving very specific duties. Try explaining that to American legislators and politicians...

I so glad that all those dogs were rescued and eventually found new homes. Hearing the court decision, it was stated that these 2 owners could not have any pets (one for 5 years and the other for life), so, that would mean that all the cats got rescued as well. My sweet boxer boy Dexter has two water bowls inside, and a water bowl outside where he can go in the fence yard whenever he wants. All bowls get fresh water everyday. The outside bowl more often if Dex had a dirty face when he drank making the water dirty. The rest of the water goes into flowers out side in tubs, the container is washed, then clean water added. Not to give dogs water is unforgivable. Dex also goes on 4-6 walks a day with his human dad. Keeps them both in shape.

@@AnitaSouthall Yes, I live in a pet dumping zone, lots of farmers and people who own livestock. Also next to a bird reservation that is open for duck and goose hunters during the season. I come across dumped animals all the time, I must have some kind of homing beacon because dogs 🐕 and 🐈 cats find my house and sit in the front yard. Last year I actually saw a woman dumping her older English Masstif dumping out of the car I live in Utah high plains Desert it's hot out here in the summer. After she had dumped the dog my neighbor and I went over to him, he was friendly and he was definitely not a young dog he could barely make it to my house. Since I always have dogs come and go my dogs are friendly. Once in the house the poor dog laid down in front of a bowl of water at my feet. I could smell he had yeast infections in his ears, so I cleaned those and called my vet. He had a rabies tag and they can trace owners through that. I made an appointment for his ears and gave her the tag number. The next morning she called that a woman had called her about her "lost English Mastiff". I had the woman sent me a picture of her dog and it was indeed the same dog. I gave her my address and told her she could pick him up. She came to the door and it was the same car and same woman that had pushed the dog out of her car the day before. On top of that she was a certified vet technician that worked for a different vet than mine. She told me that the dog had ran away from her friends house in the town next to ours and she had been looking for him. I told her well my acre is all enclosed and my dogs have the whole acre with a dog door so they come in and out run around all day long. I told maybe next I wouldn't mind Watching him and gave her my phone number. The next morning she called me and asked if I could take in the dog, because she was moving to an apartment complex where they only allowed dogs up to 25lbs. Now I finally had the truth. I said yes because the thought of that poor sweet dog dumped somewhere else to die from dehydration in a strange place was more than I could bare. We called the dog Buddy because he followed me everywhere, and would plop down on my feet we had his ears looked at and the vet said he was born with a defect in his ears that is very common in Mastiffs but the surgery to repair it should have been done while he was one or two years old. She said he was around ten and that's old age for a large breed. She said to put him on the same food as our other dogs wheat free. She gave him antibiotics and I would clean his ears daily. Buddy lived with us for about 5 to 6 months when he started to refuse food and water I tried soft food and kept his water all over. But after 3 days he looked at me and I said to him 😔 I know, my husband and I drove him to the vet and had him sedated and Euthanized it still makes me cry, because I know that he loved it here but he was ready to go he is buried in the back of our lot with all the other dogs we have had and lived good long lives ❤️. I am happy that at least I could live with the fact that he had a wonderful few months at the end of his life and he was given a dignified death instead of being discarded like a piece of trash. Every hunting Season dogs find my home or I find dogs. Both alive, and dead shot. Because they didn't hunt as expected. Every spring and pretty much till winter I rescue discarded kittens and litters of puppies. In Utah you can get your dogs and cats spayed or neutered by the ASPCA Bus for $25. But instead of diligence laziness leads to unwanted litters and sometimes your lucky and it's but a plastic bag in the irrigation ditch with 4 to 8,9 little dead lumps. Sometimes they miss the water and you can rescue them and get them to a rescue or non kill shelter. People are truly the cruelest species on the planet.

We do have similar laws- they're just not as strictly enforced, unfortunately. Also, there's the fear that, with our animal control, there aren't enough homes, and healthy, well-behaved animals end up getting put down, due to overcrowded shelters. There are more and more sanctuaries and fosters though, decreasing that problem. No healthy animal should ever be euthanized, especially not because they've become inconvenient. 😢

I hope they got the cats out also. I wonder if RSPCA called for another Inspector to pick up the felines. Dave and Doris are adorable...and I love Irish Wolfhounds. Was that a Wolfie that first ran into the puppies'room?

I cannot fathom how people can do this to defenceless animals who can’t even do a thing about it. And what really is amazing is these dogs can go on to love people. SMH

It is totally disgusting what some people do to animals, who only want food, water, shelter and love! You people should be treated like you treat these animals to see how you like it!!!

Living in Germany, I like to watch the little episodes. I think the RSCP is a top organisation, with much influence and power. I wish we would have such an insitution. But I must say, if I watch the rescueteams from Austrailia, I have the impression, that the law is different. Not so strict concerning the side of the owners. I donßt know if I´m right but over there they seem to leave the animals often longer under poor conditions, or put them down more quickly. I ´m not sure if that is correct. At last chapeau to your organisation again.

I just had a nightmarish thought. Is it possible that these people were withholding water so that the animals wouldn't urinate. God I hope there's a place where people like this end up where their left in a crate for eternity. I have no understanding or forgiveness in my heart for this Behavior at all. I don't know when this was filmed but imagine if these poor dogs had not been rescued before the summertime the heat in the UK has reached record highs I don't even want to imagine. I'm from Vancouver Canada and we have had unusually hot weather as well. I have a lovely lab who by Nature is not a big drinker. I had to go out and get a case of no salt no fat chicken broth and put a couple of tablespoons into his water bowl every couple of hours to ensure that dehydration doesn't set in and it is absolutely my pleasure. Nothing makes me happier than to watch him drink a nice big bowl of water.

Both should've been banned for life. Not just one of them. But at least the one guy is getting the help he needs to take better care of himself. And more importantly the animals were all able to be rehomed....

The people that are harming the dogs are clearly mentally ill. Someone needs to help these people from themselves!

Raquel Pena, Someone needs to treat those so called "humans" worse than how they treat defenseless, voiceless beings; do you notice how they aren't so mentally ill as to try to abuse bigger people than them?

I hope neither of these poor animals former owners are ever allowed to have pets again. I believe you just can't turn some people around to do what's right or in the best interest for the animals involved. Just hope the cats are getting the much needed care as well.
