I love that powder horn handle shape, what I'd call a Corsican peasant knife. one of my favourite patterns and very comfortable in hand

Very interesting knives. The Acoppi has a unique rachet sound. The powder horn you showed early was a good looking knife.

I like these knives, and the Slipjoint would suit me well! Must try and find one. Should be easier from this side of the pond!

I would hope so. They are definitely in the economy class of knives but I really like the ones I’ve bought so far.

And that would be my favorite wood handle knife is the number 8# Opinel OD Green
@andrewnawarycz30263 жыл бұрын
The handles are so comfortable that you want to pick them up and use the knife for pretty much everything. That's what I have found with my Spanish brass and bone lift lock navaja by Martinez, the best knife that was bought for me

Super nice looking! If only that had a carbon steel blade, I'd be in heaven!

I like a lot of Cudeman's stuff, Joker and Nieto are good too, though Nieto are usually slightly higher end. Joker make a nice line of similar looking slip joints in olive wood that here are under €20, same steel, I use my Joker Iberica (3" blade 2 5/8" cutting edge) a lot, if I go to a barby with local Spaniards, everyone has pretty much the same knife. I really like your ring lock, I may have to go looking for one.

The joker Jinx fixed blade is bad ass!!!!!

As soon as the episode started I said Navaja. After all, it is made in Spain. I have a small but fancy one with red and green stripes expertly varnished over. Also a damascus blade.

The only wood handle knives that I own are all of my opinel and I absolutely love those I'm wanting to try out another brand and you might be familiar with it Antonni old bear I think they're made by the Italians around the same price as opinel....

I’ve seen the old bears. Thought about them as well because of the olive wood handles.

Good looking blades, both of them, I just wonder if olivewood is hardwood and water resistant , never had one Sometimes they write that steel as MoVa To me that locking notch reminds me of a trigger seer

Some of various descriptions of olive wood Olive wood tends to be very expensive, certainly more expensive than metal and plastic cooking utensils, and even pricier than other wooden utensils. The reason is that olive wood is more durable, less porous, and overall stronger and more beautiful. Olive accepts finishing oils and waxes well, but the wood's natural oils may resist water-based finishes Olive Wood is a dense, hard wood that resists stains and odours, is hard wearing and has its own natural antibacterial properties. With very little care your olive wood products will last a lifetime Olive wood boards, olive wood chopping boards, olive wood cutting boards. ... Not only are they very beautiful, but olive wood boards are very strong and have natural anti-bacterial qualities that make them the ideal surface for preparing food In short it’s a good wood for knife handles. Yeah sure it can get damaged but so can any other wood handle. Olive wood can be attacked be insects but not so much mold, mildew, and fungus.

That company does not like nail nicks!
@KnifeChatswithTobias3 жыл бұрын
The thing is, neither of these knives need one. I suppose some folks would like to see it but I find that I open many knives without ever using the nail nick. The spring tension is light enough without being too light and there is enough blade to easily pinch it open. In the case of these knives, I'm kind of happy they don't have a nick as the nick with interrupt the lines of the blade. But yeah, in the case of many traditional knives, a lack of a nail nick would be a fatal flaw, especially those with more than one blade or a low profile opener.

@@KnifeChatswithTobias Get a little bit of grease on the place you pinch, if you can open it easy then you have a keeper!
