What a cool "rare as hens' teeth" find! I believe that, initially, early pre TL-29 models of the Electrician's Pocket Knife were privately purchased by soldiers during the Great War. Quite a few decades later, this practice was repeated with the multi-tool plier. In short, usually, professional soldiers know what kit they need before the desk jockeys in procurement do. Lol Oh, if you lightly rub the shield with the side lead of a pencil tip, it might display the well worn inscription?

If it only can talk. What stories can it tell? Was it always in a kitchen or desk drawer? Did it travel around the world or around the states? What sort of work did it perform? And who and how many owned it? I see knives like this and that's what goes through my mind.

How can I send you a photo of a unique knife that I have? It is a pocket sized knife with MOP scales and 24 blade slots with 12 on each side. All of the blades are tiny and very similar.

Another excellent "knife chat" with the most knowledgeable Tobias, I tip my cap to you good sir! Traditionally, the Canadian military was very good at supplying their frontline personnel with quality kit items. That included edged tools and weapons. Now, that is no longer the case, some soldiers even have to privately purchase their own helmets! Oh, in my collection resides a pristine surplus Revere Supply Company U.S. Coast Guard Approved Jackknife (with can opener). I believe that my specific example was manufactured by the Utica Cutlery Company. Regardless who the actual maker was, the fit and finish is pretty much flawless!

I arrived at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery to visit my only son this morning just after sunrise. I was the only one there. When I got to my unit in the 82nd during Vietnam , myself and fellow new arrivals each had one of those automatic paratroopers knives on their bunks . We were looking at them and some guy says I hope you boys last longer than those POS knives. They were total garbage and didn’t last more than a few days before they were all broken. Not sure about this but I think they were made by a company named colonial

Yeah, those knives had one purpose and one purpose only. Cut the straps on runaway parachute if you were being dragged. And they were the back up in case the quick release failed. I’m guessing you jumping with either T-10s or -1 (dash ones) at that time. Both had pretty reliable quick releases.

I got the half hawk in the bolster lock series. The red sawcut bone, finish on the bolsters/liners and single blade half hawk are excellent. My biggest complaint is on mine the blade did have just a bit of give before hitting the liner lock. Meaning I could push the blade maybe about a eighth of an inch at the tip before it would hit the lock. It’s still probably relatively safe but I treat mine for all practical purposes as a slipjoint to be safe. To be fair, I would probably buy the same exact knife if it didn’t have the lock since I really like the series other than the lock. For me, if your gonna add a lock to something that doesn’t necessarily need one, I want it to lock up tight with no wobble or play. Otherwise, I’m not going to be comfortable using it as I would a locking knife.
