I believe it's an 11.75 pro taper. In my humble opinion, an 11.75 pro taper with a super soft tip hits the lottery. My favorite!

My advice: find out what size and type (soft, medium, hard) of tip you want, type of shaft (carbon fiber or wood), what weight you prefer and STICK TO IT!!! Do not go back and forth between cues. The only way you get better is by being consistent. I see people changing up cues all the time and then wonder why they're not getting better

Thanks, after trying out several weights cues and tip hardnesses, I ordered a Predator Sport w/Z3 shaft and the standard medium tip. This will be the cue I use from today on...

You didn't do this at all. You bought a bunch of mediocre sticks, rather than getting one good stick and sticking to it

@exegg - dude that’s the natural progression as someone just picking up pool is not gonna buy a thousand dollar cue off the bat. Most do as the person in the video does and starts with a low/mid tier stick and if they get hooked, invest in a higher end cue. I started with a 30 dollar cue and went from there, only after getting more serious with a home table I stepped up to some higher end cues.

I think the one you like has a "pro taper", same diameter for 12"-14", then tapers up vs. the others having a gradual or conical taper. I believe that is correct. Pro taper makes sense to me.

Also, I could not get the Predator Roadline w/wrap as they are all sold out. I opted instead for the Predator Sport II w/Z shaft. (11.8) This stick has that pro taper you mentioned which makes all the difference in performance. Love it!

To me the tip means more than the stick, I do prefer a little more weight but that's just me. I do know Earl Strickland agrees with you, he switched to a 15 or 16 oz cue because he said it allowed him to let out his stroke

I’ve come to realize the tip also is most important Andrew. I do like the 11.8 diameter and light weight over a 21 oz 13 mm however. Thanks for your input too bud 👍🏻

@@ronthepoolstudent I have been itching to try a skinnier shaft (Low deflection) shaft. I played at a high level for years but I took 10 years off so things have changed lol.

@@andrewwood9067 my 11.8 low deflection shaft delivers accurate low squirt shots with great spin power with finesse. Not for everyone but it fits my stroke and overall game 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hello Ron, question... are u able to use a breakshaft with a playing butt? I have 2 playing cues, old ikon and new p3. Was playing to buy a break shaft to attach with my old ikon to save money and cue space. U think its a good idea? Does the break button matter??

Any good cue maker will list the taper in the specs for the cue. From what you are saying you want a pro taper at least 16". I highly recommend the Meucci carbon pro in 12.25, Kamui med black/clear tip with the pro taper.

Cool Steve, I’ll check that one out. When I made this video, things were very new to me then. Thanks so much for suggesting that cue, it’s always nice to get feed back from those in the know on this subject. Thank you! 👍🏻

I believe your going to find most maple shafts to have the pro taper and when you get into Ramen shafts most likely are conical shaft examples of this type are usually themed cues such as Budweiser etc..... from what I’ve seen .

ARE YOU SAYING THE MEZZ CUE ITSELF IS A FORWARD WEIGHTED CUE? OR ARE YOU SAYING THE HYBRID SHAFT MADE THE CUE FORWARD WEIGHT? THANK YOU

You can get a Predator that has an adjustable weight. Go from 18 - 21 oz by removing or adding the weight cartridges from the inside of the bottom of the butt.

@@ronthepoolstudent SAVE 300 BUCKS AND BUY A JOSS CUE. THEN SPEND 35 DOLLARS AND HAVE A CUE MAKER TAPER THE SHAFT EXACTLY THE WAY YOU WANT IT. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT, HAVE IT CUSTOM. OR TAKE YOUR 13MM SHAFT, SPEND THE 35 BUCKS AND HAVE THAT TAPERED DOWN TO XX-MM AND XX-TAPER YOU LIKE. THATS WHAT I DO/DONE

@@ronthepoolstudent I guessing you didn’t like the tink feel off them 😂 Honestly they are good cue but really it really is whatever feels best and good shaft I use a cuetec avid for me I just don’t need any other one it always feels like home And I always have confidence I can compete with any cue out there

@@seansmith373 I hear ya Sean, this video was from what seems like a lifetime ago now in my Pool career. Today, I shoot with a Predator Z3 maple shaft and Kamui medium tip. Although I’m able to shoot with any cue, the Z3 with that tip is my first choice. Like any cue, we must first learn it’s performance to fully have confidence with it. Thanks for watching and for your comment 👍🏻😊 PS, I had to watch the video again so had to add, I still like an 11.8 pro taper over the conical taper. Also, I shape my tip to a dime radius.
