The flange on the flight where the stem enters could be a point of contact for deflections. I could see in your closeup video that the flights spin and that could be helpful. I think of flights and stems like the wheel...pretty tough design to improve upon. I give them credit for trying.
@DartsReviewChannel2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was thinking the part you mention could be more of a problem like you say. Not sure if they can eliminate it but if they could I am sure it would mean the flights last longer too. :)

How much for stems and flights?! The cost of playing darts in just getting stupid now. I use plain plastic stems that cost me 30p a set and they last ages.
@DartsReviewChannel2 жыл бұрын
Which is exactly the point I raised in the video. Something unique like this system is always going to be more expensive as its got numerous parts and no doubt has gone through a long testing and fabrication process. There is also the issue of it being so different that its not known how much they will sell so therefore production volume will be at a certain limit meaning they can only get it so cheap. At the end of the day though none of that will be of any concern to an average customer who will just look at a normal stem and flight and say "WHY?"
@chrisf16042 жыл бұрын
Plastic stems that "last ages"? So I assume you´re not a good darts player and seldom group them close to each other, inevitably resulting in Robin Hoods, breaking off one of the four flight holding segments? Dude, I played aluminium shafts because of that, which are more durable than nylon/"plastic", yet I could swap my stems after the second Robin Hood. Haven´t tested out the Taro system, but I´m totally satisfied with the AK5 system from Cuesoul...cheaper than the Zero Stress/AXE systems, but with a similar performance. ..and a bigger variance in colours and prints than the Condor stuff. Won´t use anything else anymore but the AK5 system.

@@chrisf1604 I’m a pub player now. Used to play for my county and professionally for a bit. I average anywhere between 26 and 30 at super league matches. So.. I’d say I’m a decent player. 🤷🏻♂️

Haven´t tested the Taro system yet, but one of my dart mates uses the Taro and he is quite satisfied with that. I prefer the AK 5 system and have not run into problems or downsides for more than a year I´m now using the AK 5... Maybe I´ll get the Taro the next time I order from my Cuesoul retailer, looks quite cool tbh.

I often tell people in the end its about what they find works best for them. Because of that I would usually say try them at least once to see but the main issue with these is the price is likely going to put them off giving them a "try to see" I am sure some will love them though. So far they seem to working better with my Harrows Predators than they were with the darts I used before, so its certainly not a bad setup just wish they could get the price a lot lower :)
@tersan85472 жыл бұрын
1,7 -1,9 gram is a significant amount of weight that will completely change your dart. I got tired of constantly buying new darts to find the perfect one and therefore started focusing on setup. After much trial and error, I found that darts that initially did not suit me suddenly became a dream to throw when I found the right length and weight of flights and stems. Many are completely nazi on the weight of the barrel itself, but uncritically put on just about anything in the back end without thinking about how it will affect the dart. There's way to little focus on these things.
@DartsReviewChannel2 жыл бұрын
the normal medium nylon stem and 100 micron flight was heavier at 2.05g. True, setup makes a big difference but you still need to be happy with the dart too and although I think in time we can get used to anything I still think its best to go with what feels best for the individual in the end :)
@gilbd2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, I didn't see them compress or expand but the rotation of the flight was very apparent. I have a set of the magnetic stems with the flight portion being removable and rotates. I like them but I've gone thru a bunch of the flight portions due to robin hoods. Interesting and innovative though - I respect that.

Do these ones make a bit of a springy boing noise when they land? I found the AK4/7 did that. The noise became quite off putting. Great review as always 👍

Darren; really thorough review. To me they seem like a gimmick; but a very expensive one ( almost $50 for one set?). Again, my opinion but that's beyond the ridiculous. I do have a question for you; do any current top tier pros use these? Thanks and keep the reviews rolling.
@DartsReviewChannel2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike! :) Yes they are super expensive and really that is the biggest issue I think regardless of whether they are a gimmick or not. I do hear a lot who like the first version though but I think the price of the new version will put them off trying it. I dont know of any pros that use them.

As far as I am concerned, if you like your flight to spin on impact, there's really nothing better than target progrip spin stems, which make no noise or rattle whatsoever, spin only when they have to, have a simple engineering approach to it (lubed connection between the two parts of the stem), their stem and flight combination weights in just like the "normal" combination does, cost around 1,5 max (for s set of stems). What more? )))

Which size would be comparable to 28.5 mm set up? I purchased the 32.2 stems and they far shorter than what I’m use to. I do however love the system.

All the measurements are in the video and on the Cuesoul site. Not sure there is an exact match, will just have to measure your stems and flights and see which is the closest :)

in my opinion this is not gamechanger. I see practical attempt how to avoid bouncing but it's overcomplicated. I can imagine situation when due to manufacturer error or strong throw the spring may break and hurt somebody who stays close to dartboards like referee (caller). Or even thrower.
@DartsReviewChannel2 жыл бұрын
Maybe. I dont see the normal stem and flight making contact/deflections etc ever been such a huge problem that needed fixing and then even if it was possible to eliminate the issue who is to say sometimes a normal deflection may be something we prefer to have, say if a dart is near a double and you want to bounce a dart off it in the hope of getting a deflection into a double?
@chrisf16042 жыл бұрын
What kind of "strong throw" does it take to f up the Taro stems so thoroughly to break the spring? Darts aren´t supposed to be thrown like a spear, you know?!? ;) And even if the spring breaks in some rare instances, what do you think this spring is like? Hint: It´s not like a 24 Joule spring to tune your airrifle, it´s more like one of those tiny springs you´ll find in ball pens. Chances to get "hurt" by it? Practically zero.
@jcass19702 жыл бұрын
I bougt a few of the original Tero setups, and didn't like them at all. Great concept, and they work ok, but the flights were horrible. They broke constantly. Seemed, to me, like they were way too brittle. Just in normal play (nothing extreme or rough), I'd break one every few days, and that adds up for those pricey flights.
@DartsReviewChannel2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the price kills it, they lasted ok for me before but not as long as some other moulded flights, think the plastic could to with a little more elasticity or softness.
