The Sacrifice Ritual seems to have a slightly different animation depending on if they believe in Sacrifice or not. If they don't, they're terrified all the way down.

Yes. If your cult Believe in Sacrifice then they will act terrified at the beginning, but relieved with a smile before they got dragged down. If your cult Believe in cannibalism, You can harvest their meat when they die without -20 in faith. Also, every Ascend Ritual you performed yield followers meat. You can hear the follower screams when they reach the top.

If your followers DON'T believe in sacrifice, then the only time during the sacrifice ritual that the follower smiles is if they asked to be murdered in the name of the Lamb as a part of a quest.

Ascension ritual is also affected by it I think. Mine ascension ritual is bloody. After they are lifted you hear wet noises, holy music gets distorted and you get follower meat.

Resurrection isn't necessarily the best thing ever, but it is simply fun to play around with. Tagged along belief in sacrifice, I sacrificed someone and resurrected them in the same day just because I liked them and they were among my first followers.

@@yveshku5583 LIES, Resurrection is Over Powered for real if paired with the Summon Demon site. With Cultists that are older (they get higher levels) and wise, they become extremely powerful demons you can take on your crusades. The most deadly are the bomb demons, with an old cultist it can help you even cut in half the HP of a boss with one single attack. I mean old as in over 100 - 200 days old. Not the guys with walking sticks.

I asked the question because of his P.S. it seemed that he meant something else...also, it seems, to me at least, you can either go by doing "intimidation, murder, sacrifice" in order to get stronger faster and by fear or going by doing "inspiration, ascension, motivation" in order to be (huge air coates here) better than your enemies...or just do whatever feels right every thing seems work fine either way I guess 😅

Follower ascension has actually 2 different variants, the one that wasn't shown in the video was the true ascension where the follower doesn't die in the end, what changes it, is the first doctrine of afterlife where you choose either belief in sacrifice or belief in afterlife Something similar happens to the sacrifice ritual where the follower is either scared or happy when sacrificed

That doesn't happen to my followers. Instead of turning into meat I get a lot of faith as in they are accepted into the higher plane. Dunno what are the requirements for failing the ascension turning your followers into only meat.

@@lorieslori8051 i probably picked the same except the ones that extort my followers for gold The only mean option i picked was the fighting pit ritual because i refuse to marry my followers XD i already had my fun in romance irl i dont want anymore in the games i play dang it The other mean one is probably return to the earth, unlocks this facility that composts their corpses into fertilizer At the same time i can compare latter to say how some deceased ones become ash in urns It reminded me of ripley's believe it or not where one family fulfilled the wish of their deceased loved one to fly By pouring the deceased one's ashes in a machine that makes frisbies It was so sweet

Honestly out of the two traits in the second tier of the Sustenance tree the Grass Eater one is probably the better one of the two simply because you get so much more grass than follower meat and follower meat is a lot of money during the early game when you sell it.

@@Calt_Clerity To my knowledge, if you don't have the Belief in Afterlife doctrine, the Ascension Ritual will always look red regardless of any other doctrine. If you want the Ascension Ritual but don’t want it to sacrifice your followers anyway, get the Belief in Afterlife doctrine first.

@@sugarp1e174 I think there's a bug then in the relics of the old faith update. If you originally took Belief in afterlife then use the forgotten commandments to get Belief in sacrifice, you'll get the red ascension.

Essentially the 'Good' choices raise the faith of your followers at the expense of resources, while the 'bad' ones cost a bit of faith, but provide useful powerups and boosts. There are also cases where the 'evil' option is simply more practical. For example, there's a trait option that either has your followers gain faith for each Elder, or one that gives you a boost for sacrificing Elders. Elders are pretty much useless and have a lifetime's worth of devotion that you can use for an ascension or sacrifice ritual. At the core of it, you still are manipulating and misleading a group of cute fuzzy animals to help you free an ancient eldritch god, but you can treat them well along the way.

I’m on PS5 and I can only get six followers to enter the church no matter how many I have and the game is getting consistently more buggy as I spend more days with my cult, things like getting trapped in a room during a run or being stuck in the level up animation with one of my followers and for some reason the flooring I tested out keeps coming back after I delete it, there’s a lot more but I really like this game and just want an update so it runs normally

Yeah im not using that either its too cruel and unneccesary I try(keyword try) to be as benevolent as possible and it worked wonders I never ever lose faith as much as i should be worried for, and throughout my run i never had a single dissenter ever I mostly chose ones that boost follower loyalty, devotion and faith even if most of them cost a pretty penny The only ones that are kinda questionable for anyone's eyes at my attempt of benevolence would be to chose the fighting pit ritual over the wedding ritual, my reasons being im not gonna marry my followers lol but thankfully i dont use this ritual as much Another i think is the resurrection ritual despite having Belief in afterlife trait To save up on real food i also put grassy eater since i always get a lot of grass so might as well have it be of use as cheap food without the drawbacks Never had i ever had anything that makes me extort money from my followers and i got through just fine

The feast sets the hunger level back to full and helps restore the faith lost. Fast is good for long crusades but if your cult is already starving it'll just makes things worse and cause tons of dissenters. Honestly though as long as you have a farm (you'll mostly have to maintain it yourself until late-ish game) and the grass eater trait you'll be pretty much fine for food.
