In the current state it is one and done, maybe second run trying to do dungeons out of order to see if dialogues change, definitely easy co sidering that by the time i beat Leashy i could access 3 remaining areas

Honestly I'd put it in a solid 7.5/10 in rouguelikes, at least this one doesn't punish you for NOT picking up things (like enter the gungeon) like, I never got why that had to be a mechanic

Also the ammo drops are stolen because this game has a lot of cool guns, and they want you to use them instead of trying to get through everything with your starting gun until you have guaranteed refill.

I felt like the balance between dungeoning and culting was really good I just hope the dungeons get a little more love through DLC or free updates, like SUPER CRUSADES or new weapons or something like that, i just hope that because the have a roadmap option in the menu a big content update will come that helps out the dungeons more than the city- er.. I mean cult builder aspect, I wasn't really disappointed when I got it but i was a little sad. (Kinda edit: I know that basically what foekoe said in the vid it's just I'm feeling/felt when I played the game, also hammers are cool don't @ me)

Idk, I’m not really against there being a “rogue-lite” sub genre. I personally love games like Risk of Rain and Isaac, but I can empathize with those who are new to the genre and find it difficult getting into them with the tons of items where sometimes (especially with Isaac) you have to either ask the internet or slowly learn by pouring hours into the game to figure out what each item does. I can see how someone would appreciate this game as a sort of introduction to rogue-likes as opposed to just being immediately overwhelmed when jumping into games that have so much content. Otherwise, I agree on pretty much everything else

My introduction to rougelites was Isaac and I dont find it overwhelming. Granted, the first mods I downloaded was the item description mod. The sheer amount of time to unlock stuff and beat routes are far apart from each other enough that I dont really feel overwhelmed. Your thrown in a room, here are the instructions, goodluck.

Updates and dlcs have endless possibilities, they can add new upgrades, weapons and more land and buildings The amazing thing with indie devs is, they can do anything they want With them it's not about paying the hundreds to thousands of people who work on the game, it's about having fun and goof since most times, at most there are 20 people working on the game or atleast 1 guy with a dream

I think that there's something we have to remember, cult of the lamb is not just a rogue like, is a city simulator game TOO. So i think is kinda unfair comparing it to other roguelikes like tboi (one of my favorite games of all time) that are, only, roguelikes. The team of COTL had to basically make 2 games and manage to connect both into one. That's FUCKING hard, specially to a small dev team.

I finished this game yesterday and I do have to agree with a lot of the points made in the video - I was definitely expecting a more challenging roguelike experience, but as you said... it IS roguelite. Either way, I had a lot of fun building a town and taking care of everyone while also going out on little resource hunts. It did take me back to when I played don't starve all the time - build a nice little base, go out for more materials, then return to your base and improve it. Thanks for the video by the way! Yep, bought it when the game came out , perfected the game over the past week, and now I’ll probably be done until they add something or I share the game with a friend. I was also really expecting more attention the crusades/rougelike aspect and replay value. That said, still super happy with the purchase, thought it was a great game, not exactly what I was expecting, but I had more fun in the 20 hours I played it than I’ll have in 100 hours of other games. It is an incredibly fun and enjoyable game to play.

I love the game, but I honestly wish it had more lore. I Get the protagonist is supposed to be something that you can project yourself on, but the character has a backstory of their own, one that's really interesting and could make for a good story however they just.. never mention it past the introduction? I was hoping when they added relics of the old faith, they would have some lamb-related artifact, but no. Even just one scene where they look at something sheep related, like a small statue on the ground or even something bigger like a crumbled sheep city or home and they change their expression for 2 frames would add so much to the character but they just. Don't. They don't share WHY it doesn't bother them, or why lamb related items are rare. It's not like the bishops burned all sheep related items after the genocide and, even if they did, it's never said or implied. I hope they add something like this in the next up and coming content update. Their entire race is dead, and they just don't care.

This kinda reminded of a concept i always wanted, it actually came from a mod called minecolonies, i would like if someone mixed the adventure/ action genre with a village survival and took it to the next level, like you start barely surviving always going exploring to get resources, and then later after your village grows you actually go on sieges using both your abilities and the Villagers you helped raise to fight.

I finished cult of the lamb yesterday, and yes, it's no hades or underminer, but I enjoyed it because, while simple, is just really comfortable. I agree with everything you said, and personally really hope that a DLC or expansion comes where one can explore different lands, fight other cults and make the dungeons more complex because it really does feel like the cult building was the main priority. Still, I love f***ed up animal crossing and am excited for more to come from Massive Monster.

I think what your saying is true for the most part, I haven't played the game yet, but I will say give it time. A lot of the other big roguelikes you talked about in this video had a lot of time to develop and add new content. So give it time.

I put off watching this review until after I beat it and I somewhat agree. But I think the shallowness of both the crusading and the attention to upkeep for your followers was sort of nice. When I got frustrated because I couldn't beat a boss, I just stayed and helped around the town to cool off, expanded a bit. I enjoy that I didn't feel rushed to beat it, it wasn't an 'end of the world' plot, you can take your sweet sweet time.

The difference between roguelike and roguelite is in the gameplay, a roguelike is tile based and more of a rogue clone, whereas a roguelite just has some elements from the game rogue such as random levels and whatnot

this game is amazing, I bought it before it launched and I have nothing to complain, I liked it so much and the village build style with rogue like matches so perfect, all my wait was worth it, I recommend it to everyone, you have nothing to worry about, the game is so cute and fun, pls buy it :)

Honestly great review. One thing i will say for the sake of it is the developers are planning on adding more to the game, so i'd say give it time and maybe they will add more that will make the roguelite aspects be a lot more more fresh in the future.

I do hope that the Cult Of The Lamb gets like updates for its crusades, I think everyone would enjoy just little updates and DLC and all of that being given out to help feed the people that enjoy the crusades (in theory) more than the cult stuff/village stuff

I feel like there might be a combat update coming in the future. Most of the effort has clearly been put into the cult building aspect, they're probably aware the combat is a bit lacking

Highly anticipated this game and honestly I agree with you 100% The dungeon crawler sections can be quite fun imo but only if I do them sparingly cause they can get a bit grating (though perhaps if I hasn't played on hard they would go smoother, but that's the opposite issue) I was expecting to overlook the colony sim parts but they've been the highlights, as well as just exploring the quest worlds I hope it gets some major content updates cause I can't see myself playing it much more than to beat it (though I'm considering getting all achievements), cause there's not that much replay value besides picking 'murder' rather than 'funeral' (not to imply I'm having a bad time - I'm loving it - but it can only last so long)
