Fun fact: The prophecy will be fulfilled regardless of your choice. Once you reach The One Who Waits, you get to choose whether to be sacrificed and free them from their shackles or disobey them and fight them. If you lose the fight, The One Who Waits gets freed but if you beat them, they'll turn into a smaller more vulnerable version of themselves where you're given the choice to kill him or force them into your cult. So in the end, The One Who Waits will inevitably be set free from his prison by the lamb, but it's what happens after that is where your choice truly matters.

It shows just how much stronger the lamb has gotten under the Red Crown's influence, and how he's adopted the more cruel mindset, on par with the world around him. I can just imagine the lamb making his crown into a sword and outright executing the person before him after saying that line. Once a fearful sheep, turned into doubtless killer, a *God* in sheep's clothing. This cult has indeed broken down and built his soul.

I feel like the line could also be towards The One That Waits, and when the lamb repeats the "I won't submit to prophecy" line, it sounds like the lamb themselves are fighting against the prophecy in their own way.

I feel like The Red Crown is the main source of power for The One Who Waits, and by giving it away, he's made one hell of a mistake letting the lamb become a deity themselves.

Spoilers In the end, the one who waits tells you to become the final sacrifice to free him, however you can choose to revolt (fight) or become the sacrifice bonus: Fighting him will give you the choice again to spare him (turn him into a follower) or to kill him (you wont get the follower)

I would love to hear something like that, honestly ...I can imagine it being a lullaby what they once sang to their young sibilings what turns more and more nonsensical/repetative as the song goes along because- you know, their mind was affected by their head injury- but also it gets more and more remorseful because they feel guilt over having to imprison their brother.

love how the song is basically them fighting for the crown's power like at the end of the game where you're asked to give up everything and everyone Lamb has met and built just so the weaker, cruel god can have it back and destroy all. Fantastic gameplay mixed with fairly good lore and character, a beautiful art design and progression system. Cult of the Lamb is one of my favorite video games as of September 2022. To be honest, I never really noticed the lore until the very end of the game. It’s pretty damn good, and mixed with the Combat loop it’s amazing. Need I remind you that COTL is a indie game?
