The most notable part of "RAW Is Owen" to me is Mark Henry reading out a poem in memory and tribute to Owen, and breaking down in the middle of it, with tears dripping down his face. That is the effect Owen Hart had on people.

It's crazy to think that the highest ratings of Raw & Nitro combined still couldn't reach the 1st Main Event special's 15.2 in 1988 [33 million viewers] that remains an all-time record for the business to this day. The 2nd iteration drew an 11.6, the 3rd w/ 12.8, the 4th w/ 8.6, & the 5th w/ 6.7 in '91. The original 31-episode run of Saturday Night's Main Event also drew bigger ratings in general [reaching a zenith of 11.6] than either Raw or Smackdown [the latter maxing out at 5.8] during their respective heydays.

Wrestling can still garner these types of ratings as non news shows today have proven they can achieve high ratings with viewership up to 9 million on a weekly basis. The problem with wrestling is.. there’s literally nothing nor nobody for the average audience to tune into, you can have all these fantastic matches with these great wrestlers but nothing is must see TV when it comes to wrestling or the wrestlers. Even during times like the Ruthless Aggression when Raw got over 5-6 million viewers, people tuned in for the chaos that was wrestling and it’s personalities, no matter how dumb a segment was the fact they never pulled any punches made you laugh at the insanity of it. Give the average audience who doesn’t watch wrestling a reason to watch wrestling and they’ll come back.
