The real move is a bjj compression lock called the calf slicer, calf killer was what AJ had it called when in TNA and NJPW, this name was obviously not PG enough so it was changed to calf crusher in WWE. There's also a really easy and decent bicep slicer that can be used to counter when someone defending an armbar has too good a grip on their own hand/glove to separate and extend the arm. There's quite a few mma/bjj subs that could easily be carried over to wrestling imo. The twister being one that I would definitely use if I was a wrestler

My favourite is the triangle lock ( undertaker hell's gate ). It was so cool when he beat triple h with it

Hell's Gate isn't a triangle lock. It's a gogoplata. The biggest difference between the moves is that in a triangle lock, the attacker's leg is behind the opponents head, whereas the gogoplata has the attacker's leg in the throat of their opponent. Triangle locks are very common in BJJ and MMA, and gogoplatas less common. Taker's Hell's Gate puts his right shin into the opponents throat, making it a gogoplata.

Also, fun fact, it was Ciampa that modified the Rings of Saturn before Neville did, he called it the Rings of Honour or the Sicilian Stretch, but all of these could of easily been on here, or make their way into a part two, along with a mention of Charlottes Figure Eight as her variation puts far more pressure on the opponents legs

Here's why commentators mention leg softening with the Sharpshooter: your calves are being squished together on a shin and a thigh which hurts, and one or both knees are getting hyperextended. It's true MOST of the pain in the Sharpshooter is in the back, but the legs also are in pain. As for Cena's STF, he often looks like he's suffocating the opponent, which ain't fun

I don't know who told you that about submission holds, but they were absolutely ribbing you. They are worked.

You have to soften up their legs bc the legs are where they fight back from the sharpshooter, obviously. Plus in the WWE games it's a body submission...

If this was on WhatCulture's channel the Ankle Lock would be #1 and there'd be a 20% transparent Kurt Angle watermark over the entire video with his eyes glowing more and more as it reached the end followed by an 800% volume ad for Kurt Angle's existence at the end.

I think the cross face chicken wing is better than some of these

Camel clutch feels good. Like a real nice stretch. Same with the sharpshooter that I'm sure is on here. Dragon sleeper is a classic guillotine but can feel good if not a lot of pressure is put on. Figure four actually does hurt. It's a leg scissor in MMA and hurts like hell and hard to escape once it's locked in. Crippler crossface feels like a nice stretch too. When I was a teenager I was a wrestler and huge pro wrestling fan so me and a bunch of buddies formed a grappling\mma\fight club. I remember as a kid getting all of these holds on someone legitimately and then being completely baffled as to why the hell they weren't tapping. Some of the moves I cranked as hard as I could for over a minute easy but nothing. Pro wrestling was kind of ruined for me after that. You give Cena hell for the stf but that was one of the few moves I could get guys to tap with. Then I watched one of the first UFC'S learned a little jiu jitsu and a lot of judo and all of a sudden I was tapping people left and right. Now every now and again I turn on pro wrestling and watch an utterly enormous and gifted athlete get blown on and act like he got shot 32 times and I just go "ugh." Still nostalgic as hell for me though and I still love wrestling.

yeah man, love the camel clutch also. Long held, not pulling back too far, then it's comfortable. Prefer hand over mouth though compared to under chin.

You can rip on the sleeper all you want, but I was amazed one time I made my buddy legit drop passed out in around 6-7 seconds of tight pressure around his neck(his chin was in the crease of my arm, and my other arm pressed down on the back of his neck almost like a triangle). I was blown away at the power in my hands from that day, seriously no joke, I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Honorable mention, the tequila sunrise that Konan used in wcw. I always thought that move was pretty dope

Solid shout out to the Lion Tamer, one of the most under-used badass submission holds in wrestling

I always liked the guillotine choke...also the Tazzmission, especially when he would sit on the opponent like a camel clutch.

the Lion Tamer, Crippler Crossface, Kimura Lock, and even the Anaconda Vice always looked just extremely painful to me.

Cobra Clutch was a great and deadly submission move back in the day especially when Sargeant Slaughter did it in his early days. I'm talking about when they would wrench the neck. If you ever had that move really put on you you'd know it really hurts.

There is no competition for Chris Benoit's crossface
