What few recognize is Victor Jory plays Judge Roy Bean. A great actor of the 20's - 40's, he made the best performance in the movie. Love his talent, he was priceless.

Victor Jory starred as a romantic lead in the 1940 movie "The light of the Western Stars", a Zane Grey western. That movie also had a very young Alan Ladd in a small role in a saloon. Victor soon became a very convincing villain in many roles. In his later age he appeared at least twice on the TV series "The Virginian" with my favorite being "The Return of Golden Tom" which also starred his wife in real life, Jean Inness. He has always been a favorite even though his villain roles were despicable at times, especially in Hop-a-Long Cassidy westerns.

I watched it because I saw Budd Boetticher directed , and wrote, this movie. I saw it was a "money for retirement" for Audie Murphy (he produced it). Murphy had excellent production work done, hired a first class director, cast himself (+ one relative) and Victor Jory and one other Holly Wood well-known character actor. Boetticher wrote in the "not a happy ending" type script popular in Holly Wood in thar period of time. He cast unknown actors to make it cheap. They perform well - they've been well taught. The "heavy" was not convincing but he did the script as it was. Just lacked the aura of menace needed.

It was designed to make Audie Murphy a lot of retirement money. He cast it with unknown actors, aside from Jory, to make it cheaply. First class director Boetticher and first class production.

That old West town is filmed at Old Tucson. It's about 10 miles from Tucson (at least it was when I lived there in the 1980s). It is both a type of small public amusement park and also used to film movies/TV series at. It even had/has a old time real train engine/a few rail cars with tracks that ran either on/to regular train tracks or had special rail tracks to film train scenes.

You're not a film buff if you don't know Victor Jory. He's been a "star" in the late 1920s and early 1930s. He's been a working character actor in hundreds of movies and t.v. films. Usually as a "heavy."

A morte da cobra no início do filme foi real, deu pra ver! Outra coisa interessante, quem atravessa a fronteira do México para os EUA, em alguns lugares das cidades é possível ver, até mesmo pelo google earth, sepulturas em cemitérios históricos dos confrontos da época entre índios, civís e autoridades!

IN the first 11 minutes, a REAL snake is killed............for NO reason. A kid shoots thu a wall with NO regard for what or who is on the other side and a white horse is almost hit in the head with a porch roof. WHEW! Was there no one on the movie staff that was keeping up with cruelty to animals and reality??

العتب واللوم على المخرج والمنتج لهذا الفيلم.. هناك مشاهد لا مبرر لها سرد الكلام والمحاورات أتعتبت المشاهد والمتابع.. الفتاة من ساعة خطفها من الشاب حتى نهاية الفيلم وهي بالبدلة الوردية لا استحموا ولا تناولوا طعام.. وعلى طول الصحبة والمصاحبة يتجولان والحوارات بدون هدف ومعنى.......... واخيراً نهاية البطل الى مثواه المجهول وترتيب ظهور فتاة شابة أخرى ماهو دورها وتجمع الناس حولها في الصالون اما القاضي المخبول الذي زوجهما فهذا يحتاج الى مصح ليكون سوياً..
