Probably my favourite KEXP set ever. Not only did I find a new dope band, but also watched a wonderful interview. Good work Troy Nelson and KEXP:)

I can't tell if they're overlaying anrecorded track with live singing or if it's straight up lip synching. Bummer

How are they getting that effect on her vocals?
@tony-u5f2 ай бұрын
Not live vocals unfortunately
@MrBearfaced2 ай бұрын
I'm guessing it's a mix of live vocals with either pre-recorded backing/effects track(s) or perhaps a vocal effects unit like the TC-Helicon Live

These are some great songs, but it sounds so over-processed. There is very little sense of this as a live performance. Might as well just dial up the song on KZbin.

Bingo. Especially all those pre-recorded backing vocals and the over-compressed, over-sweetened lead vocal. Computers can be a valid instrument in the hands of a creative musician. But when they only serve to play something pre-recorded, to be a digital boom-box/karaoke machine/metronome, the artistic value of a live performance disappears.

@ Yep, they can do it how they want, AND people can critique it like they want. Your defensive interjection is petty and pointless. And your sarcasm is shallow, because it implies that only a handful of big-named producers have the perspective, or right, from which to critique music production and value.

Love you kexp.and this band sound good.but I've noticed alot of pre recorded vocals being used in recent sessions.if it's a backing vocal maybe not so bad.but not acceptable in a lead vocal.
@dsholt2 ай бұрын
I wasn't sure if it was pre-recorded or just that they put all the same effects on her voice as they would when recording. Either way this performance sounds sterile and over-processed.
@tony-u5f2 ай бұрын
@dsholt I realise you can use many effects on a microphone.but her mouth seems out of since with the words at times.i could be wrong,but I doubt it .I would rather hear imperfect vocals,live should be live.songs were good though.
@calderarecords2 ай бұрын
It would appear that they pre-recorded her vocal lines and applied effects prior to this to save her any embarrassment of singing anything less than perfect! Great band though. Not judging in this era of superficiality.

@ So funny how people like you assume critique is a tense exercise. Is it beyond you to realize that some people enjoy debate and critique of the arts and its elements, and can do it in an enjoyable and relaxing fashion? Since you’re giving out suggestions, if not barking orders, here’s a suggestion for you: maybe don’t tell people how to respond to posts on youtube. What’s beyond me is how someone would actually take the time to comment just to tell someone how to feel, instead of sharing how THEY feel. But, whatevs.
