I didn’t know there are cultural differences even between English speaking countries. It was interesting to learn them though the conversation between two great teachers was advanced level for ESL students. I think I sometimes understand more than 85% of the explanation but I understand less than 30% of the conversation when I watch movies. To be fluent English speaker, there seems to be quite a long way to go.

Major differences could also be that the Brits drive on the correct side of the road, can manage to uses a knife and fork at the same time, have pubs and many other places that you can walk to and have a good network of public transport. There are less obese people around.

British people do have more sense for politeness and they do also have a monarchical mentality. Tradition is always regarded. Americans are more open but also much more shy sometimes.

Here in Brazil, the TIP comes into the bill and it is optional. If you liked the service you'll pay 15%. (it's separated at the end of the bill). I don't like the culture of tipping. It makes me very uncomfortable. If I'm traveling abroad I simply avoid going places that you have to tip. This should be forbidden. The employee should pay enough and not make customers and employees feel so uncomfortable and humiliated.
@marcomarx92694 жыл бұрын
PS: Here is optional but we always paid the tip in the bill. Only when some problem with the service happens we don't pay.
