Hi Sir , being a South Indian I've noticed south indians are much more rooted to indian culture . Like the marriage ceremony , janeu ceremony are done in a much traditional way in South India ..also south indians are well versed in sanskrit (most of them I've seen) . There is a whole village called Mattur in Karnataka that has first language mother tongue as Sanskrit..what's your take on this ?

Brother, that's because southindia never came under mugal rule they were able to save the vijaynagar empire. So they are less influenced and thousands of temples were destroyed in North even they say qutub minar to be made by mugal but it has hindu carvings like ganesha whose head is crushed by stone and many more.

As an Indian when I see people from some countries not being pluralistic or thrusting in a mono culture, it makes me wonder why are they like that. And then there are other bunch of folks called wokes who are now teaching diversity to the world including India where we were already respecting diversity 😅

There's a difference between being diverse and being xenophobic. Most Indians are racist xenophobes who do not respect other cultures but instead mock and stereotype people of other cultures. Instead of embracing and collaborating, we try to compete and bring each other down. That's why it is much important for people to understand the diversity and RESPECT THE DIVERSITY.

@@barunjena6171 LOL... I assume you've never been outside India or Nepal or wherever you're from. Let me help ya understand a little, kid. People all over the world are the same be it in India, the US, Australia or any other place. Within the US we have so much diversity that on any given day, we can see ppl making fun of each other. Ppl from one part of US make fun of others just for being from a different part of the US, never mind the fact that to outsiders they look and sound the same! Same in Australia. Queenslanders make fun of Sydneysiders. Melbournians make fun of ppl from Adelaide, and so on. It is human nature to point out the differences and to highlight what is good about ourselves. And guess what...? When it comes to the crunch, we unite and fight the common enemy. I've seen Pakistanis and Indian uniting when overseas. I've seen North and South Indians uniting and fighting for a common cause. This happens not just in India. Ppl all over the world are fundamentally the same. Once you can appreciate that fact, you'll learn to live and let live. Jai Bharat! 🙏🕉

@@barunjena6171 Indians aren't xenophobic. In fact India has always given asylum to the persecuted. Be it jewish people or parsi people of present day Iran. And that too we gave them shelter during Hindu India not present day Secular India. Guest is considered as god in India. No other culture in the world has that concept. India has polytheistic religion as majoritarian religion hence it accepts people of all faith. That is not the case with abrahamics. Indians have even granted equal rights and citizenship to muslims here in India despite giving one third of nation exclusively to them. Even the most progressive nation like USA has not done that. On contrary they killed the native American population and grabbed their land. They still cause havoc in middle East along with European NATO forces for oil and profit of private military contractors.

I'm from Karnataka, I don't see any difference in culture among any part of India, there's difference in traditions, but the culture is a similarity between groups rooted in history, traditions may be different but not the culture. I believe we south Indians are more rooted to our history than the North and naturally so, because the north bore the brunt of foreign invasions and much of the practices were diluted, but the south was largely stable throughout the ages, the cholas, vijayanagara, hoysala, pandya, cheers, rashtarakuta, kept the south out of influence of the invaders thus enabling the culture to flourish.

Being a Kannadiga, I can say Hindus here are more rooted to Hindu culture. Unlike hindus of north. Each Hindu communities have Kula Devatha, Grama Devatha - in our case it's Bhagavan Bhairava. We worship gods and pay tribute to ancestors. Educated Families are very traditional here, ppl marry within their caste/clan. All castes as respected. No discrimination. North Indians are wannabe westerners. They consider Urdu as an aristocratic language and Sanskirt as the language of uneducated plebs. Ulta is the case in South India. Here Sanskirt is considered as a sophisticated language. Kannada movie songs contain divine sanskrit hymns unlike bollywood which is full of "Khuda sufi maula maula subhan allah".

#AskAbhijit Sir, how did practices like sati system, child marriage came into Hinduism? I've never heard of any hinduism book encouraging this practice. Did it start because invaders used to take away women into harem and to escape that horrific fate, women chose to die on fire? Also how come our textbooks only mention things like sati, child marriage and caste system but never talk about triple talak, polygamy and nikah halala? Caste system exist among Indian Christians and muslims as well through which they apply for reservation benefits, they mention their caste in matrimonial ads as well, but then why caste system is always mentioned as part of hinduism only?

I personally think that we(North Indian) use to follow the same kind of culture as our south brothers and sisters, but due to constant invasion from the west, we stop doing that or modify some parts of it. Like our wedding happens in night, due to fear of looting in the morning, also our ancestors stopped wearing Janeu, again due fear to being recognised and persecution, they can only practice their religion in hiding. The south was pretty much free from invasion that’s why their culture is still intact.

Being someone who has travelled the lengths of India from South to North, I have always felt that our cultural similarities are way more than the differences. The differences as you mentioned are only superficial, the underlying spirit is the same. Yes we have different languages, different foods, different approaches to the same culture, but we definitely don't have an entirely different culture. The 12 jyotirlingas, the 80+ shaktipeethas, the 8 svayamvyakta kshetras of Vishnu, the 4 dhams, the sacred rivers like Ganga, Kaveri, Narmada etc. all of these are spread in the North and the South. We see Indians visiting these places in complete harmony and none of them has even the slightest feeling of a different divinity being worshipped in a different geography. North, South, East, West, we are all one nation. We are diverse but in complete unity. ❤❤😊

Indeed, I've seen videos now showing different areas from Thailand to Cambodia to Sri Lanka to every corner of India, and beyond...even perhaps Egypt and other places That show some very striking similarities or outright orthodox Hindu temples. Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat for example have very obvious Hindu foundations (not the footing of the building, I mean lingams Nagas and even some bas relief of Hindu Gods) built into the Temples. Only later, it Obviously was intentionally changed to appear as a Buddhist temple. 😎🇺🇸

I'm a Punjabi Hindu. I wanna answer as to why North West India (Particularly Punjab & Delhi) is distinct from Sanatan dominated South..Its partly becoz 'SUFI' and 'SIKH' Saints influences became dominant in North West region post "I$lamic Rule" & continuity of Hindu traditions either got lost or just became for the namesake.. Though 'Sikhs have their own culture & identity'..Sikh philosophy is alot like Vedic/Sanatan philosophies While if we read Gurbani Chaupayis they are rooted in Indian Culture and Sikhism can be called as another "Sampradaya" of Sanatan..Many Sikhs always visit "Shakti Peeths" of the North.. While my Grandfather has his "Upanayan" ceremony, my father did not..And even if we don't understand Sanskrit or Sanatan's philosophies like a pro South Indian.. I can guarantee WE HAVE THE SAME FEELING FOR OUR CULTURE JUST AS SOUTH INDIANS HAVE :)

If I compare it with my South Indian friends, I find them alot clear in reasoning n philosophical background.

@Gaurav Mehrotra I just wanted to make a point coz many South Indians in the comment section were raising this issue that North Indians (Punjabis in my case) are not so rooted in their culture. I'm seeing the start of a great resurgence of Hinduism across Bharat because we have just now ( 75 years) come out of 1000 years of foreign invasion, occupation, subjugation and persecution. If you take into consideration of Undivided India ( which includes Pakistan & Bangladesh, the foreign invaders were successful in forcibly converting 33 % of the present population of the subcontinent to their religion through various coercive methods, threats, violence, torture & jizya If we forget history, we will be bound to repeat it. Now, Hinduism is all about making spiritual progress through the five elements, deities and a host of devatas who essentially are cosmic & 'spirit-ual' who could be invoked through a variety of methods for spiritual & material benefits. It's important to make people understand the philosophy or philosophies behind Hinduism in a logical manner. Because common man only understands logic. This resurgence in part is driven by people by Sadhguru who has a fool proof explanation for the question. What's Hinduism. Hinduism is all that he explains & actually much more. Sadhguru usually avoids speaking about things that are not logical but which could become true through realisation. He's the start of Hindu resurgence, it will go on for thousands of years. I think people should go back to the basics of Hindu spirituality and do spiritual work starting through the five elements and sounds ( beej mantras )

a lot of people are asking why southern india is much more adhering to sanatani values and culture than nothern indians. well, north india has been under foreign rule and influence for much longer and the sanatani culture was violently repressed and sanatanis were punished for following their own culture which wasn't the case in the case in the south luckily. most north indian cities like Delhi have tragic histories of loot and massacre, no city has faced such a miserable fate as Delhi in history and yet it grew back again and more glorious each time which also lead to it being attacked multiple times. we need to realize that the outside influence in north india has been much more and it eventually came to a point that generation after generation of this the outside influence embedded itself and because that rooting was so violent it was forced down our throats that it was superior and one was made to accept that superiority with a sword at our throats, it comes with a lot of trauma and psychological manipulation which goes on for generations and if it isnt identified can last forever, thankfully people are now realizing that we hold this mindset and trying to bring back the glory there was. its also wonderful that the southern india was able to preserve much of our culture which because of wars, invasions, violent abrahamic rule could not happen in the north and now the south can help the brethren of north to get back on their feet after this horrible phase in history that's now past, some people however try to be narcissistic and see themselves as superior while the truth is just that they know nothing about history they'd not be feeling superior to the northerners but actually empathize and try to reeducate people about what was forgotten in history for many many sad reasons.

The tradition of Devi (the Divine Faminine) worshipping is, I think the most closest/glaring aspect of what binds all India, irrespective of region. From remote villages of Uttarakhand and Himachal to remote villages of Tamilnadu and Andhra to villages of MP to villages of Assam. You will find a Devi temple in every Village of almost all-India. PS - many may not be aware of the thing that Abrahmic religions don't worship the Female Godess. Yes Mother Mary is there in Christianity, but let me remind you she is not DIVINE like his son Jesus. She gave to birth to Jesus. Thats it. No more No less. Happy Learning !! 👍🙏

Sir 🙏 please answer my question , we know that our species originated and then migrated out of Africa , if they travel to India it will be through the west ( Iran , Afghanistan , Armenia and others ) then how can we say that people from india migrated to those areas , practically thinking they would have first settled there and then move eastwards
@VinayKumar-dk2vv
@VinayKumar-dk2vv 2 жыл бұрын
Firstly I'm also confused about this how these guys migrated to Indian subcontinent. I think yeah we are all basically from Africa. If you carefully see map the Arabian peninsula connects directly from Ethiopia of Africa (where humans originated) to western Ghats of Indian subcontinent (where ancient vedic civilization, vedas, sanskrit, sanatan dharma most probably originated). They travelled through boundry of arabian peninsula. They were first people to leave Africa. You can prove that by genetics. The true migrated ancient people can be found in Andaman and Nicobar islands now also. They may be even traveled through sea also. Because humans are found in islands where there is no direct land connection.
@DrGT666
@DrGT666 Жыл бұрын
The geography today is different to what it was when Africans first migrated, sea levels were lower due to the Ice Age so a lot of the land that was utilised to get to India is now under the ocean, they would not have travelled through the Middle East as you mention.

I will also like to point out that despite being of the same civilization, there has been a disparity of rulers & kingdoms ( and even invasions and their impositions) b/w different regions and at different times, different regions thrived and thus their literature, cultural influences etc. bolstered & even sky rocketed in that era, be it Mauryas, Guptas, Rashtrakutas, Cholas, Gangas(East & West), Vijaynagara, Rajputs, Marathas, Ahoms, etc. Due to this, over time different regions have developed certain characteristics of their own, but the fundamentals on which these variations have arisen are the same & even the so called variations are in terms of adaptation in terms of local climate, terrain & resources and not in the way of life. Specific to North and South India, a lot of variation is caused due to Islamic invasions & control being rampant in North India for a much longer time as compared to South India. The whole of East India and the glorious Magadha was reduced to ashes in this period along with the intellectual and spiritual centers in the universities and various Viharas(from which the name Bihar comes). Mind you, these changes have formed and broken up in the past and even in the present as today's India is an example of a new churning of the same civilization, although with the propaganda & policy machinery of Indian state that is still in the Colonial Era following colonial ways, we have a lot to change to take us towards a more sensible & conscious society. The common people have continued migration within and outside the country too, as and when a region became a centre of power and prosperity or to protect themselves from persecution. One great example will be how Tibetean Buddhism came as an assimilation of Hindu Tantra with Aghori & Tantric Sadhus moving to Nepal and Tibet during muslim invaders in the North and specifically East India, because if day to day Puranic and Vedic Hinduism was so intolerable, just think what would have happened to the tantrics who use a very different path of spirituality. Even the Kings and dynasties or their descendants have moved from one region to another to remain or come back in power, eg. West and then later East Gangas etc. So these variations are just local innovations! Also

@@pawanmahajan2816 yea , sadly Andhra hindus are not much Conservative, so Christian missionaries are making profit in Andhra , but in Telangana if any pastor comes into a village to convert hindus , the villagers would tie him to a tree and apply sindoor on his face , I speak Telugu and Kannada, definitely next is the marathi ❤

@@chaitanyareddymuthyala2967 Very Happy to hear that Bhau. I'm most concerned about Tamilnadu. Such an extremely Vibrant culture, Art and History. Great Brains but Somehow went away from Dharma Path and suffering but still not waking up. My heart pains when i think about Tamilnadu and Kerala. Why these peoples are so ignorant about Dharma. Tamilians just started to hate Sanatan, saying they follow different religion. Why is that? 😢 And decreasing day by day
