Thank you for sharing this excellent talk. I'm of the Wica. My mentor, Charles Clark, who was a ranking Freemason and Ceremonial Magician met Gardner through the Fate (magazine) Club in the Fifties. He was subsequently initiated through him, becoming his Scottish depute and UK Secretary, taking his books around to sell because the bookshops wouldn't stock them.

Went every year to the IOM from `55 to `65. Port Erin/ Castletown. Met Gardner about `63` and he showed me around his place explaining what he was about.He had a big collection of old weapons I remember. Nice bloke .It was the beginning of the `60`s and the subsequent generation gap but he never the less gave his time to answer what were no doubt rather daft questions from a young kid .
