Culvert Blocked By Landslide Again.

I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. When my grandparents had a trailer park they built a solid rod with a sharp point on one end and a handle on the other end for your hands to be able to force it into the ground

Props for you to keep trying to find the other opening. I tried to unclog my first culvert here over the weekend and it was harder than it looks. I thought I knew where the pipe was but I just couldn't see it. I moved a ton of small stones that had slid down the embankment but never found the opening. Oh well - I will try again some day!

I carry an extendable pole with a folding claw and a come along hand winch for pulling things out of a culvert. And a small hydraulic hand jack and metal plates to help open them back up from excavator damage. They also hand underwater hand held metal pin point detectors Those could help ya out on some of your adventures.

I think you were very close. Look at the outflow at 2:00 - a few leaves flow through. Maybe increased flow for a few seconds before? The water is also discoloured after this

My armchair advice: Go to the exiting end of the pipe and move back far enough so that you can look into it like into a tunnel. Align yourself so that you can look precisely straight down the pipe. Then find a landmark right above that line on the other side. That should allow you to site the pipe on at least one axis. Like looking down the sights on the barrel of a gun to tell what the target is.

A metal detecting pin pointer might come in handy when searching for hidden metal culvert pipes. They are small and can fit into a pocket and most are waterproof. I was going to suggest a metal detector, but the good ones are expensive and not worth the expense unless you will use it often. Some of the good ones are also waterproof and they can see deeper than the cheap ones.

Even a child's metal detector could be helpful for you in some of these situations where you can't find the pipe. It would false read on the actual road, but on the side of the road amongst the water or grass, could be helpful, even a handheld pointer...Great video, as always. Thanks Chief

Post10 You need to make a "water scope". Take a PVC pipe maybe 2ft by 2 inch,, the wider the better. Cap one end with clear plastic, and then you can use this to look underwater. It should make finding some of these pipes much easier.
