I usually can't stand any of Vivaldi's vocal music. When I was in university, there was a movement to bring back a lot of his vocal works including operas. Despite top-of-the-line talent and people devoting their full time to the style I never heard anything I enjoyed. This is the first time I've ever enjoyed a Vivaldi vocal work whether solo or choral and man what a treat.

The whole of his Nisi Dominus is beautiful. I recommend the recording with Philippe Jaroussky which also has the Stabat Mater performed by Marie-Nicole Lemieux who is an incredible Contralto. The Crucifixus duet on the album is also stunning!
