You definitely can’t Paul, no doubts about that. Always great to see 30+ year old machines working away in the fields and still earning their keep years later. Thanks for watching and your comment, greatly appreciated. Cheers, Dave.

Everything about this is great. Not a penny of finance left to pay there and the job still being well done. That 380 doing a good job, yer man in the 362 not hanging about anyway.

Exactly John. Absolutely no point in spending money on newer equipment that at the end of the day won’t necessarily do a better job. All the forage equipment on this farm is over 25 years old and performs faultlessly every season, more videos of it working over the next week or so! Your right, haybob 380 doing a great job of putting two rows into one very quickly and as neat as a 2-rotor rake! Thanks for watching and your comment John, appreciated as always. Cheers, Dave.

What difference does finance make? Most houses have a mortgage.

What are these mowers like to use, are they reliable? Parts availability?Hard run etc! Great video

Hi Kenneth, pleased you enjoyed the video. Regarding your questions on the JF mower, this one has been on the farm since the mid-80s so now coming up to 40 seasons mowing grass so as it’s still here I imagine it’s been pretty reliable as no doubt it would have been replaced had it not. It normally cuts about 100 acres a year behind a 95hp tractor (though in the past it’s been less than that) and being 2.4mtr wide and with two rows raked into one it’s the perfect match for the farms JF 850 trailed forager. I assume that parts availability must still be ok as again if they hadn’t been it would have been replaced by now. I would have thought it must be pretty easy to drive to as the farm just takes one cut a year normally at the end of June so it’s usually a fairly hefty crop. Hope this helps answer your questions and thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment. Cheers, David.

Thanks David for taking the time to reply has been great help, it obviously is reliable and has given great service to you, jf state minimum requirement is 48hp in your opinion do you think a 50hp tractor would be capable of driving one withconditioner? And also have you modified the paddle to stop grass wrapping, thanks in advance Kenny

@@kennethmcandrew3152 Hi Kenny, pleased that I’ve been able to provide a few answers for you. I would think 50hp would be enough power up front especially without the conditioner as the brochure recommends 48hp. A friend of mine runs a John Deere 1355 9ft mower/ conditioner that requires 75hp with just 70hp and it drives it without any bother at all! No the paddles are stand as far as I’m aware, very well engineered the JF brand.

@davidwinthrop7077
@davidwinthrop7077 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen, yes sometimes simple is best. Yes it’s a PZ haybob 380 which you can adjust the width and open it up to 3.8mtrs rather than the standard width 300 model which is much more popular. Thanks for watching and your comment, greatly appreciated. Cheers, Dave.

Great bit of filming David, Farmer owned machinary if looked after can last years as demo here, but how long will this modern computerized stuff last, strange way of mowing !!! running over the grass every other run , why !!!, haybob man must have a promise on, love the MF 699 David, getting dearer to own now . 👍🎥😎

Thanks again Steve. Your right about machinery lasting for years if looked after, this farms implements never spend a night outside! Yeh how long will the modern gear last, I see many changing it after 10 years for something newer and better?? Just a young lad helping out on the mowing, first time possibly so maybe a bit lack of experience and yeh he must have had a promise on, wait till you see him filling the pit! Yeh 699 a lovely tractor, as you say getting expensive! 💰Cheers, Dave

Same mowing outfit for over 30 years and yes probably considered slow compared to some of the huge outfits today but as you say it gets the job done. Yes nice MF classics, 3 or 4 on this farm! Thanks for watching and your comment, much appreciated. Cheers, Dave.

Not running on the grass,only time you run on the grass is 1st time through the middle,mow in lands and keep the tractor wheels off the unmown grass.
