A beast of a train. Thank so you much for uploading this great video. Brings back a lot of happy memories spotting trains. That engine sound near the end of the video is really something very special. Well done for preserving it in video for eternity !!!! I cabbed almost every deltic at Doncaster Works, just prior to scrapping them. I had to cross a river to get into the works !!!!!!

Nice to see a run along the coast on a classic 37. Weather wasn't great that day... but, it didn't matter. Lovely views and a treat. Many thanks for taking the time to do this. I for 1, am very grateful.

Great job on taking the video. Me and my son were on the coast the week before the first December storms and floods, heading to Carlisle was fine but the return journey,,,, we were held at Workington as the sea had breached the tracks at Parton, after half hour wait we were given the light to set off, but it was a very slow trip to Whitehaven, stopping at each signal as the track was assessed, the side of the set getting batterd by sea spray and waves. Was kinda glad that we were in loco hauled rather than the thunderbouncers,, (class 142) and that we were sat next to 100ton loco, 37425

What an awesome piece of work, absolutely well done! I loved the 'window ride' part, despite the poor weather. I hope to visit the Cumbrian rail line one day and have a ride myself. Amazing movie, best regards from Poland.

+TRSPomerania Hi - thanks for your kind words. If you're heading over I would recommend doing so soon as I heard a rumour the 37s are coming off this diagram if performance doesn't improve.

Photo 57601 Thanks for the reply! Do you mean that they are overstressed and breaking down or the fact that the time will come soon for them to end service because of the permits/papers?

+TRSPomerania Hi. I'm not from the area but I hear that the reliability and punctuality of these services aren't great. I'm not aware of any legislation that will ban the use of 37s in general (in fact more are being returned to service). In the UK we have the concept of 'grandfather rights' meaning if the 37s were permissible when built they can continue to be used, but you wouldn't be allowed to build a brand new one because it wouldn't comply with modern emission rules.

Thank you for your answer, that is quite interesting to be honest; in Poland, every loco has its number of kilometers between every main technical inspections set, just like the thing is with cars (for example every 150.000 kms a cam replacement). And even if the loco is alive and well at the time of the next inspection, but there is not going to be any (f.e. no parts, no funds, or more commonly-a new model is replacing it), the loco will be put out of service to rust and be broken up, even when it's still operational-that is completely rubbish paperwork, destroying some wonderful pieces of machinery here. I see in UK things are different and you can still enjoy those good old diesels :) Cheers and thanks for your educational comment!

The Cumbrian Coast can be bad at times, I live in Barrow and get the 8:06 which is the 37 hauled ones. But when the weather is bad they can be delayed by 40mins to nearly 2 hours. Sometimes makes me late for school! On the other hand it's brilliant to travel behind a 37 every morning. Another bad thing is that currently they are having problems with the Dbso which is causing it to leave Carlisle at 5:15 in the morning, late at around 5:42.

Fantastic footage mate, thanks for sharing, have subbed to the channel. Something special about the 37s especially in this classic livery. I’ve done a couple of reviews/garden running sessions of class Bachmann class 37s in DRS and COLAS liveries if your interested in having a look, all the best and thanks again for sharing, Paul

Interesting to see you running wrong direction on the Up out of Parton. What was the reason? I work on this section of line as a structures examiner. At the right time of year it's beautiful but it can be an exposed and rough place to work when the weather is against you! My Avatar photo was taken on a much nicer day on this section at roughly 7:01
