I have the 2014 Cummins H.O. and I had the ecm updated last week and the only noticeable difference is I’m using a little more DEF. So far my truck is still performing well and I plan on keeping it.

This IS a huge problem for Cummins truck owners in California. Friends have gotten letters from DMV informing them their registration will not be renewed until the fix has been done at the dealer under recall.

They did it because that fine was just a drop in the bucket for them. They essentially did what most people who buy diesel trucks do delete them. I have an 08 ram 2500 only reason I bought it was because it was deleted. The emissions standards in this country are stupidly ridiculous, and i guarantee most other companies are doing the same thing. They just haven’t been caught yet. Emissions equipment ruins diesel engines, and causes repair problems for everyone who has to deal with them.

Love my 2004. 600hp 1200tq.... had no emissions from the factory. Had it since new.

We've got a 2003 that's bone stock ("standard output") and love it too! 235hp and maybe 400lb-ft, which is all we need!!! 400,000 miles and going strong.

Is that a 2nd gen or a 3rd gen. I thought 3rd gen's had 305hp @@ArmyProperty

@@helihoot it’s the non “high output” version. Came with a 47RE instead of 48RE. Basically a granny tune.

Great video. Dont consume TFL. They are only interested in clicks not facts. My 2021 RAM 2500 was recalled last year. It is because some trucks did not have the full DEF system installed at the factory. Good job

I’m hearing now that apparently fca DID know about the programming and there is a coating put into the scr that was causing excess nox. All aside, I agree. I hate the epa and their emissions scandal has nothing on what most of us do to brand new Cummins trucks.
@ArmyProperty Жыл бұрын
Ruh-roh. To be honest it would be shocking if FCA / Stellantis didn’t know about this, but it’s all the more impressive that Cummins didn’t rat them out!!

There must be, at one time or another, about ten percent of all vehicles in question on the road running anyway. I think Cummins has Lawyers who can multiply and divide but lack addition and subtraction skills. Cummins should have paid only ten percent of the fine. The rest of vehicles are sitting in lots, garages, repair shops etc. Seems rams only sin is not having a full production line of ev trucks like GM and Ford so they have to pay the price! By the way the EPA test emissions with emission testers made by Dominion.

All my Diesel Trucks in my collection are pre Emission 🙏 they don't wanna mess with us..that would be a bad idea ..some of us would go to great lengths and fight for our Diesel trucks .... Wait untill all the guys that have (new) Deleted trucks can't register there truck again untill the problem is fixed or they take there truck to the dealer . Hope you boys kept all your old stock Emmision Devices . They are gonna find shocking amounts of ( Deleted Trucks ) 😂😂

Pre-emission diesels are the greatest. But it seems like it's only a matter of time til they wind up in the crosshairs. Like how California won't let you haul commercially with one.... even if it's got EGR & DPF!!

You are forgetting that’s an additional cost for the Cummins. So in my thoughts you have to add the original cost of a gas motor no.???

They are fine when they are fixed, except that the systems are so unreliable riddled with problems that are some of the most expensive parts on these trucks. Emissions parts, if so detrimental to life on earth, should be a lifetime coverd part. Myself being emissions exempt, refuse to pay those prices in order to choke out my truck, and fill a tank with piss. I have options. But most don't i feel as if these emmisions parts are a money making scam. Just my humble opinion.

Thanks for your informative, thought-provoking discussion on this topic. I got my emissions recall letter yesterday for my 2015 Ram Cummins that I just purchased last year, and am just trying to get a handle on what will come of this. I'm sure I'm in a small minority of Cummins owners who actually does care about environmental emissions standards, so obviously I disagree that there is a conspiracy to eliminate diesel motors in the near-term, especially since the big-three have already proven that you can successfully pair high power-output with clean-burning tech. I think that FCA / Cummins got too greedy and got caught with their d*cks in the cookie jar, much to the detriment of their customers, who now face the decision of reducing fuel / DEF economy or power output by performing the recall, or ignoring the recall and being unable to register their vehicles in California, and may see a decrease in the value or their pickups.

Love or hate them it sounds like CARB is doing their job? So when Fiat has to meet HP and torque standards set by the competition and cannot come up with the technology to make it meet the emission standards they cheat? Do you want to buy a vehicle from company that makes this their best practice? Deception, charging customers for something they are not getting, and then making customers have an update that changes the truck over what it was.
