Hey plan b supply. I picked one of these engines up that was unassembled and has never had paint. There was no ESN number. Im working with DCEC on getting the ECM and harness for it. I almost have the engine back together. I've been developing a trans adapter to be able to stick a 6.4L ford ZF6 manual trans behind it. I will be installing it in my 95' F250

Did you have to do anything to the trans to take the 600ftlbs of torque and did you stick with stock 242 case....nice build, beautiful

What modifications had to be done to accommodate the engine? Duramax a lift is needed I believe and the 5.9 cummins needs a 4" body lift and some cuts, correct?

Depending on the state, but any Humvee can be registered. Already registered vics are easier to register in your name.

A 4-cylinder...how cute! My daughter's car has a 4-cylinder. Even though it's a diesel...a 4-cylinder in an H1? I'm sure your customer will enjoy it for hundreds and hundreds of miles.

ahh the 4 cyl haters...my daughter's does too, but its a 2 something L Toyota, not a huge 4.5L 4 cyl. I guess you are the guy that knocks on the 6 cyl 6.7 L Cummins that can push 1000lb tq in a stock OEM motor.

@mad Dog, I think you might be underestimating things. You must not know about the Cummins brand of long standing history. Most large 20-30,000lb heavy duty equipment excavators, Telehandlers, backhoe tractors, skid loaders have 4 cyl 3.9 or 4.5 Cummins or CAT Diesel engines that provide incredibly reliable output under some of the most abusive environments. Operators swear by them. Just because it’s a 4 cyl does not mean it’s anything to scoff at. Let’s focus on the data and history of both engines: Quick comparison: Original Humvee motor was an 8-cylinder 6.5 liter Diesel engine with aprox 160-190 hp and 320-400 ft lbs of torque. 10 mpg was average fuel economy Although still sturdy It is the least reliable part of the humvee vehicle and did not hold up well to neglect or demanding conditions. It is also without argument one of the loudest Diesel engines made for medium sized vehicles or equipment. This 4.5 liter 4 cylinder Cummins diesel is heads and shoulders above the humvee 6.5 in every category: Cummins 4.5: -200 HP (7-35 % gain) -575 ft lbs torque (45-90% gain!) -much more Quiet! -15- 17 mpg Incredibly resilient to neglect, abuse and long, high power demands. Cummins Diesel engines, especially the 4.5, 5.9 liter engines have legendary reliability and durability for over 40 years. Pretty good for some cute engines. Ask any diesel shop what they think about Cummins Diesel engines, 4 cyl or 6. Then ask them what they think of the 8 cyl hummer or Humvee motor. Let me know what they say. -PBS
