The Cummins is the one you'd choose if you wanted a better chance of a ride after an EMP event ?

You'd need a non-computer controlled trans for that... hehe
@boxwoodgreen4 жыл бұрын
@@dante04srt Those do exist, but I don't know, and doubt if any are currently being manufactured new. Perhaps the Plan B guys know ? American auto suppliers can build anything if there's a market for a product. The people who are buying custom vehicles and want EMP hardening built in, have the $$$ to invest. We know that because those vehicles are already "Expensive" with a capital "E". There's a HMMWV / Hummer rebuilder an hour from me who's end products are circle around the $250K mark. Granted that's the mega-luxury end.

@@boxwoodgreen The huge problem is that as the guy in the upper comment said the engine isn't computer controlled but the trans is :( At this point a more modern engine would be better.
@boxwoodgreen3 жыл бұрын
@@dimmacommunication Then you're "cool vehicle" that's fun, and capable. As long as there isn't an upper class solar flare, or an EMP strike. The average new car has hundreds of computer chips that control most of its functions. The luxury cars 1000+. In the 2 scenarios above every one of those chips will be fried in seconds ... as will every one on parts shelves. It's dead forever where it sits, or crashes.

Agree with you 100%, there has been the Rezvani Tank that has this and is certified, why not an option with Plan B. Do know there is a device that can been wired in between the battery and computer (Where ever is located) that will protect. Would love to have the many luxuries in one of these that is totally rad. Anyone know the towing specs off the cuff? Am trying to decide to run with a Plan B, Rezvani or....the fact that the later is built on a Jeep frame, 4k in amour is a deal breaker!

The 12 Valve is a long engine and using the Allison helps to complicate things even more. You’ll need to lift the body 3” or so (we have a kit) and then depending on your dash/doghouse area you’ll need to make some clearance adjustments. It’s a learning process for sure. Lots of little things need to be addressed to make it work properly.

It’s on their website it’s nearly 50 grand. I’ve been looking at doing it myself, predator sells motors mounts and trans mounts, CA Conversions can do the Allison but you’d 10-16k depending on if you have a trans already or get one from them. You could reuse the 4l80 too. Reman Cummins ain’t cheap anymore and low mileage donors hard to find.

I wouldn't trust the work of this company. We bought one of their hmmwv's a couple years ago from the guy who bought it from them and it was very shoddy work. They bed-lined over everything inside and in the engine bay - even things that shouldn't be painted. The roof rack is extremely poorly designed. The custom aluminum hard top leaks at the seam between the front cab piece and the rear. Very half-assed work.

Ok the Cummings is the choice vs emp attack. But why a 6 cilinder instead of a V8? The six is longer as they said. But I think a V8 Cummins diesel would be shorter and might fit even better. I would be very interested in seeing if the Cummins V8 would be better fit and work better in a hummer. But I would never choose a gas engine for a military hummer for civilian a daily driver choice. A diesel powered hummer is my personal choice, if a miracle happened to grant me my dream 4x4 choice. I'm disabled, so the cost of a hummer is going to be out of my grasp period anyways. But I can dream of my perfect setup, even knowing it will always be just a dream. I dream of having an underground bunker to live in and a fixed up hummer as my daily driver. Sure I have specific preferences I would prefer of both things. But since there is zero possibility of my ever getting my dreams full filled, I don't see the point in being specific. My dreams are just that, dreams. Nobody really makes dreams come true. There is nothing I can do to make my dreams come true on my disability. But I sure hope and pray, that someone's dreams does come true. 😌🙏
