Well done all. You showed what needs to be done to get pump back to factory quality. Also showed us in detail what to do, and why, and what not to do, and why. Great quality everywhere in knowledge, skill, workmanship and parts. Camera shy fellow did an excellent job and you can certainly see see this is not his first rodeo. He can remember exactly what part goes where and in what sequence. I am not in that league, though I have been trying for many years. Can get all the bits together and working just fine but many times it is one step forward and two steps back because I got something out of sequence. It is a bit far to send you any of my stuff (I am in Land Down Under) but for anyone in your neck of the woods, would certainly recommend ADS. 72 yr supposedly retired mechanic/machinist/welder/fabricator etc. Still have a 16M x 8M shed at home with lots of toys in it 'cause neighbours and others bring me stuff - they say they want to stave off dementia in me - haha. They certainly challenge me regularly.

Clessy Cummins, invented both the "Jake brake" and the PT fuel pump. Both are marvels of mechanical genius. The PT pump and unit injectors used in the NTC Cummins engines were unmatched for being low cost to maintain and very rugged. Nothing else came close, by comparison all the inline conventional pumps were economically hideous to fix. One unique feature of the PT pump, is that if an idiot driver over revved the engine down hills badly enough, it had a failure mode that caused the engine to stop. Great way to identify a bad driver and fire them. I can remember, people spending US $10,000 dollars in the 1990's to fix Bosch pumps on V8 Mack engines.

Been about 48 yrs since I last watched someone rebuild one of those pumps, worked at Cummins for a couple of yrs, did our own rebuilds back then, before Cummins Recon existed, they'd do batches of whatever component they had a few of to do at the time, one week may be fuel pumps, one wk could be injectors, or a mix of lube pumps, water pumps, compressors, accessory drives, Cummins fan hubs, Schweitzer fan hubs. We wouldn't sell buttons across the counter to someone that didn't have a pump stand, had lots of requests though. Cummins Recon didn't really happen til mid 80's. Still a few H models around back then, had disc pumps on them, still sold NT262 conversion kits for the old 220's. Was there for BC1 unveil and BC2 unveil.
